Question about 1987 Ford Tempo

2 Answers

HELP!!!! I have a paper route. I drove to where I pick up my papers and noticed an oil leak from my 1987 Ford Tempo. I tried seeing where it was coming from, but it was too dark. I left there and started doing my route. I was on the highway when all of a sudden my car died. Good thing I was nerely home, cause I coasted into the driveway and parked it. Now it turns, but won't start. Fuel filter is brand new. Any suggestions?? Thanks.

Sound like your fuel pump went out.check the fuel rail.it sould have a release valve if it is fuel injected.cycle the key on off on off and then check to see if it shot out gas.watch your eyes and wear safety goggles.gas in the eyes hurts alot.lol.

Does it have oil in it now? If you ran it out of oil you fuel-washed the cylinder walls and may have lost compression. You'd have to check for spark and fuel and maybe add a little oil into the spark plug holes to regain compreession if the rings are worn.

Check firewall in pass compartment towards center. Usual place in a lot of Fords. How do you know you're not getting fuel?

How to replace return power steering hose on 2008 F-150 4.6L pick-up?

Make sure you have chosen the correct hose. There was a problem with the routing of the hose into a clip on the frame. Either salt or moisture would lay at that junction and corrode a small opening in the metal. At first, instead of a noticeable fluid leak, there is an air leak causing cavitation and foaming of the fluid. Most of the models have an oil cooler so one end of either hose will need to be clamped onto the cooler.

I have a 1987 Ford Tempo 2.3 Liter that has a high Idle problem. Would the cuse be diagnosed electronically before I replace piece by poece?

Two simple ways to quick check. One is to pour cup full amounts of water over the vacuum lines and vacuum connectors and listen for hissing, thus locating a vacuum leak. The other way is to tap on the idle air control motor to see if it brings down the idle.
