I have the exact same problem. It has been doing the same thing (lights flashing) for a couple of weeks now. I have been disconnecting and then reconnecting the negative battery cable everytime I drive the car. Open to any and all suggestions.

    Thank you very much,

    DB

    Same thing for me.
I went to a salvage yard and got a replacement sentinal module, but the problem continues. I'm doing the disconnecting neg. terminal (under the rear seat) each night, helps but then sets all of my instrument settings back.
Taking it to mechanic this morning.

I have the same problem with the lights flickering on and off after i shut the car off. Sometimes they just stay on. I found the problem under the steering column. The little black box(sentinel module) was making a fast clicking noise. I unplugged the power to the module to stop the problem temporarily and i plug it back in when i need lights. I plan on finding a new module at a junk yard to try and solve the problem for good.

Has anyone found the solution to this problem? My lights just started flickering the other day and I would like to know how to fix it.

Yes I have the same problem. I left for a week on holidays and came back and tried my command start to unlock the doors and it would not work. Got in and tried to start the car and the battery was totally dead. Boosted the car and now the lights are flashing the radio is locked and have to disconnect battery everytime so the battery keeps charged. Took to garage and they told me right away was my command start. Removed was not that and the mechanic ripped the dash out and said way to much electronics and has no idea what could be the problem. Please someone help I am not sure if this is a easy fix or more than the car is worth. Should I drive it into the bush and forget about it?

I just fixed the same problem. The above suggestions are correct, you need to clean the 5 little "dots" looks like a semi circle. I did go ahead and take apart the stearing colum to do this, however when everything was all put back together. I realized I could have reached these by pulling the rubber at the base of the stick back. Also I used a Q-tip to wipe the extra grease away. I would deffinatly moving the rubber up and wiping the "dots" with a q tip before trying to disassemble your stearing colum. If it dosn't work, no harm done, go ahead and remove it to give it a better cleaning. I took me about an hour and a half. Make sure you have the right tools. like a nut driver, some of he nuts are really difficult to get to. The right tool (should you need them) will make it go a lot faster

Ijust fixed the same problen . it wase the headlight switch it self. removing or spliting the case surounding the switches at the base of the steering wheel and then spraying electerial contsct cleaner into the 5 holes of the H/L switch cleaned out the greese and made things all better

Yes, the most common cause for the lights flickering is the headlight / multifunction switch in the column.

I followed his instruction exactly and this fixed it. This is the real problem.

I would take it to a specialist, i replaced the module and still have the same problem, must be a wiring problem further along the line

Replaced which "module"?
Usually it's the controller that works with the light switch.

Is a 99 buick park avenue fuel pump compitable with a 1997 oldsmobile aurora? there both a gm product

According to my parts guide, the fuel pump for your 97 Olds Aurora fits only that and the 97 Buick Riviera's and nothing else. The pump for a 99 Park avenue comes up as a different part number. Hope this helps!

Clicking from dash+headlights lite while parked+code P0741

The problem appears to be in the headlight switch in the multi-function arm on the left side of the steering wheel. There is also a PPL module under the dash - that is what you hear clicking. I'm just starting my research, but it appears to be common. It also looks like the switch is not an easy fix. We'll see what happens....

Electrical problem with my olds aurora lights flicker and clicking sound

you need to replace the light switch. It is shorting in the mechanism itself not the wiring. I had the same issue. Just another GM engineering blunder

1996 Oldsmobile Aurora Electrical problem.

OK it sounds like you have an aftermarket alarm inside this vehicle and no remotes or siren (It was likely in the valet mode and you may have never known there was one ... as the dealerships tend to do so that they won't have to warrantee them) I would say that is why the lights are flashing and it won't start ... If I'm correct .... remove it ...
