Question about 2002 Ford Ranger Regular Cab
I took the panel off my driver side door and disconnected the switch that is on the latch. It's not a magnetic switch but one that has a plunger to close or open the switch. My internal cargo light won't come on when I open the door now but at least that stupid door ajar bell doesn't ring anymore.

Fords use magnetic switches in the doors. Driver's side commonly goes bad. Your Ford parts counter guy should know them well. Tricky to change, though. You'd have to scan the truck to tell which switch isn't working with a Ford scan tool.
