How do i test the coils on my 2001 f250 5.4 engine without a computer

You don't

Need to use a scanner in Mode #06 for cylinder misfires

Need an oscilloscope to current ramp coil primary & voltage
on secondary

If you have a PO 301 thru PO 308 --you buy a new coil &
walk it one cylinder at a time & drive at least 20 miles

Some coils only act up every 3 weeks & really bad & spike
the pcm & come back on the tps sensor

Real education to work on a ford

Interesting once you get the hang of it

No spark at distr. new starter battery selenoid ignition coil 5.8 1990 f250

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

As a first course of action, I strongly suggest that you replace the distributor coil. If the coil is worn out there will be no spark to the distributor going to the plugs. Once replaced you'll be good.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

F250 engine code 358 v8 gas

That is the code for the primary circuit of the ignition coil. It is for the failure of the primary circuit. This should mean a problem with the wiring to the coil pak.

I HAVE A 2001 F250 V10, that will not start sometimes. When I turn the key, the engine turns over, but it acts like it is not getting any fuel. If you crank the steer wheel one way or the other it will...

If there is a short that makes any difference, it would have to be interfering with the current to the ignition. You an easily tell with a test light at the ignition coil. But I doubt it. The ignition leaves the column right away, and anything that would cause problems you would think would blow a fuse. If it is no fuel, then it would start on starting fluid spray. It there is no spark, you could see that with an inductive timing light or spare spark plug (don't hold a plug wire by hand or allow the arc to jump too far, by inserting a spare spark plug on the wire you pull off.)
