Are you getting power to the coil from the ignition switch? Use a 12 volt test light with the clip attached to engine ground. Turn the key on and backprobe the connector terminal with the black wire/red stripe. If there is no power to the coil, trace the wire back to the ignition switch to see if it is broken, or replace the ignition switch.
If there is power to the coil, open the distributor and check the components there for excessive wear or broken wires on the pickup coil.
Please let me know if you have more questions.

this indicates a no go from your computer or fuses check the coil packs for fire..no fire there means its not coming from the relay or ignition fuses...if every thing is good there under the hood check under your dash for secondary fuses..ignition fuses..GOD bless

1995 xj6 instrument light come on/off randomly

I had a 94 XJ6 - given the amount of wiring in the dash and under the hood, you may need a dealer for this.
The first thing I would look at is all of the ground connections.

My 1998 chevy cavalier will not fire

battery good? will it turn over?
if good and turns over, check fuses on ignition; might be under hood near battery and also check the ones under dash.
get a diagnostic tool and plug in and get codes will be the fastest way of finding out the problem.
have you taken the plug out and see if it fires..if so, then coil is good. computer could be bad also.
has it jumped timing? whens the last time the timing belt was changed.
good luck

My pt cruiser will not get no fire

It could be a couple of things that could cause this problem. The first would be the coil packs or the Power Control Module could be bad. Also check all of your ignition fuses both under the hood and under dash or at the end of the dash.

If those three items are replaced and it still doesn't fire up, look for a possible computer problem.
Or, look for a broken wire or fuse for the ignition system.

Good luck on this repair.

check the ignition module, poss near the distributer for heatsink (contact) paste on the base to draw the heat away from the module. With the engine light coming on, it should have thrown a code possibly a bypass ignition or no pulse while cranking. If so refresh the ignition module.
