My 2006 also shows "check transmission" of late.

Thing is, I got this fault once right after buying the car. Took it back to the dealer and fault code was shift solenoid C (P0760, I think). That's an electrical problem in the transmission... not sure where it's located. Need to read more. Cleared the fault then, and (like a fool) drove off and waited to see if it was a fluke or if it would come back because the car had been sitting for a bit. Now, 1/2 year later, I've moved and am getting the same fault again.

Took it into a Ford dealership after seeing "Check Transmission" again, and have the same fault code. The technician told me that he'd looked in an electrical attachment to the transmission, and saw condensation, that some grease had dried. He took and reseated an electrical connection, because what was causing the fault Shift Solenoid C was that a sensor was alerting that there was a low flow of voltage through whatever circuit he worked on. When I left I was just happy that the problem with the transmilssion was electrical and no mechanical.

So I left the place and I guess all was supposed to be fine. Nah. I just got a check transmission light again a couple of days later on the way to work. To make things sweeter, got a "check charging system" as well. WTF?

Who knows. I feel for you. I've read all the posts about what a great car this is, but I've replaced a faulty valve in the fuel evap system recently as well... that's a couple hundred bucks. Wondering what the alt and tranny might turn into now is enough to make me sweat a bit, especially because I can't slow down on work for a good few days, and need the car to get there.

Any specific advice??? Cuz that would be awesome.

There are dozens of possibilities, and they are impossible to narrow down without a scan tool, and to read the code that the transmission has stored, the most common problem in this cars transmission, is the temperature sensor, which is part of the internal wiring harness, expect about $350 unless you are the original owner, if you bought it new, you may be able to push it through warranty.

I just got a transmission put in my car and i am driving home and the light comes on for me to check transaxle? what happened

If you just got a transmission put in and your trans-axle light just came on I would take it back to the repair shop and have it addressed immediately. Sounds like something with the repair has gone wrong and it should be fixed under warranty your transmission should have.

96 taurus trans will not pull in drive at all, the next day it drives great. it was very cold the day it happened. what would cause that problem?

Could be a low fluid in the transmission. Check the level of the transmission fluid when the engie and transmission are at operating temperature. The engine must be running when you check the fluid level in the transmission.

I would have the front brakes checked and from what you are telling me you may have a warped rotor I do not know how many miles are on the car some cars have a reset after the oil change has been done to turn off the check engine light but if it keeps coming on take it to autozone and they will put it on a tester for free and then you will know what needs to be done
