Will try to help. your engine glow plugs are most likely the problem, when youcycle the key on, it says wait to start on dash panel right? it means it, the glow plugs preheat the cylinder to fire the fuel when it turns over. you should heva an electrical plug under the front part of engine , the plugin heats the oil during cold weather to insure a smoother start for the motor. i do suggest you use anti-gel in your fuel and please follow the instructions on the bottle that you can purchase at any auto parts store. replace your glow plugs[ they are easy to replace] they are located above the cylinders almost like spark plugs in a gasoline engine. only smallet in size. if you are mechanically inclined and can replace spark plugs in a v8 motor, you can do this yourself, but be prepaired to pay $100.00 for the glow plugs and i also suggest that after replacement, you wait for the wait to start light goes off on dash before you attempt to start the engine. it's a very common mistake. hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com if this helps a 4thumbs up would be great

The Glow Plug RELAY is as likely the problem. It is easier to test. And much simpler to replace than the glow plugs. Try Googling "Powerstroke Glow Plug Relay" and you'll find some good tutorials.

2002 Chevy 1500, 5.3. It turns over but no start below 40 degrees, above 40 fine. Put heater in cab for few minutes and starts?

One possible reason for this could be a faulty engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor. The ECT sensor tells the engine control module (ECM) the temperature of the engine coolant, which is used to adjust the air/fuel mixture for starting. If the ECT sensor is faulty, it may be sending incorrect temperature readings to the ECM, causing the engine to not start in cold weather.

Another possibility could be a weak fuel pump check valve. When the fuel pump check valve fails, it can cause the fuel pressure to drop when the engine is turned off, which can cause hard starting in cold weather .

It's also possible that the battery is weak and not providing enough power to start the engine in cold weather. Cold temperatures can reduce the battery's cranking power, which can make it difficult to start the engine.

I would recommend taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic to diagnose the issue.

Ford 2008 F-350 remote starts great in warm weather will not start in cold. all lights glow plugs ect working just wont start truck and only if 35 degrees and below.

Since batteries lose almost half their cranking power at freezing, and since diesels require much higher fuel temps to start than gasoline engines, many recommend using a block heater whenever the temperature is under 35-40 degrees if starting becomes a problem.

What is the red light that looks like a snowflake

The snowflake appears when the outside temperature drops to 40 degrees or below, it then changes to red when it is 32 degrees and below. It seems the manufacturer thinks this will assist you with your driving habits on frozen roadways.

Car wont start below 40 degrees F

Requires block heater, if you have one, it is not working. Replace cord and heater. If you live in extreme climate, may want to install a battery warmer as well.

Cuts out when it gets warm

Most common issue(and cheapest), is a crankshaft position sensor. Try this first and let me know.
