Hi guys, ive got a suzuki 1989 engine,1600cc,im wondering if anyone has some pictures of the marks on the pullys, and their positions at top dead centre, any tips on installing the timing belt would be appreciated, thankyou, yoyohorse, have a nice day
In installing the timing belt, remove the distributor cap, then shift your gear highest speed, say 5th gear, remove the parking brake. Push slowly your car until the rotor points to number one high tension wire plug, That is the TDC, you can now install the timing belt.

There are specific marks on the cam pully and the crank pully that line up with marks on the block for the crank pully and on the timing belt cover for the cam pully they need to be lined up to get correct timing.
hi, their is no way of repairing this to ensure that it will continue to work, your best option is to replace it as a whole, the cheapest option would be either a breakers yard or even try the biggest auction site we all know and love( cant mention no names on hear) xxay im sure you know what site im on about, anyway those would be your cheapest option. Or you could just buy a new part at the end of the day its up to you.
You could try fixing it but their is no guarantee its going to last due to the heat involved and the parts expanding and retracting so any repair would be difficult to do and also the repair wouldnt last long witch could leave you breaking down some where.
Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok
Haynes don't cover that engine. I've found a copy of the H25 engine manual which is similar to the H20 engine we have. If you search for SQ416 in google you'll find a copy you can buy or if you're lucky you'll find a free download somewhere like I did!! :-) It has helped me loads.
there are marks on the block near each pully that have a mark. usually block mark is like a triangle, pully mark is a dot. cam pully and crank pully should be only ones to line up. a repair manual will show you the what & where in your vehicle. good luck.
