A couple of possibilities: One is a bad switch. The other is that the window regulator has broken. The window regulator is the motorized unit that raises and lowers the power windows in your car. It consists of an electric motor that uses a loop of cable to pull the window up and down the window tracks. These wear out and often the cable loop will break or jamb. Once this happens it will only move the window with the motor's power one way. Up can only pull something with a cable, pushing it doesn't work so it needs the complete loop to do both. Replacing these is common and involves removing the door's interior panel and unbolting the window regulator from the window and the door frame and replacing it was a new one. These units usually can not be fixed and must be replaced. here is one I replaced last year in my GM truck. The old is laid out here in the same position it is in in the door and the new is below it still in the packaging. Tip: If you tackle this yourself make sure you tape the window in position BEFORE unbolting the regulator. If you don't you risk dropping the window into the door and breaking it!

first open ur door board n get the window winder machine and chek for any damage and if u find any issue with the winder machine try and fix it up i.e if the cable is broken u will probably have to find a specialist to fix it but the best solution is to get a new window winder regulator
Power Window: If it's a power window check to see if there is power coming from the window switch with a test light or multimeter. If power is coming from the switch, look in the door where it pivots and check to see if any wires are cracked or broken. If there is no borken wires, then it's possible that the power window motor is not working. If you hear the power window motor working or operating it's possible the window regulator is broken or binded up Manual Window: If it's a manual window, take the door panel off and check the regulator (part where the window is attached) and looked for any signs that the cable in the part has come free or binded up. Try to roll window up and down to find any signs of the broken cable. If that is the case, then you need a window regulator.
u have a broken window regulator, nowadays there mostly plastic bosses guiding tiny steel cables througha maze of steel framing. the best way is to remove ur door panel by inspecting ur door panel an finding mounting bolts an access cvers to bolts remve them then the panel .changing ur regulator assy is pretty straight forward, few mouting bolts and a few more fastening the window to reg assembly and a pigtail to the motor. good luck be patient with door panel, their tricky and delicate a pointy scribe will help u peek behind stuff an a good penlamp is a must to locate door panel bolts an SEE in the dark
This is a common BMW problem before giving to a mechanic try looking at the mechanism to see if any bolts are loose or missing, you might find the bracket is broken or torn and needs to be welded or replaced, the job is relatively easy but be carefull because of the SRS system if not sure give it to an expert.
The same happen to me, the cable that pull the window up and down is broken. I could not find the cable and had to replace the whole unit. You can do this by removing the inside door panel, and from there you should be able to work on the unit.
