Question about 1999 Daewoo Leganza

1 Answer

Transmission my laganza doesn't seem to want to shift into 4th and overdrive untill the engine is at normal running temp. Even if its a cool day and the engine temp goes up and down the car will go back down to third untill it warms back up. What do you think?

Try servicing ur trans. by changing the fluid and filter

Just had this problem with my 2001 daewoo leganza. Problem was solved by replacing the engine thermostat. The transmission fluid is cooled at the radiator so if the thermostat is stuck open the coolant cools the ****** fluid to much and wont let it shift into 4th. If your heater doesnt apear to be working as well as it used to I would guarentee that this is the source of your problems.

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHY MY CHRYSLER 300 DOES NOT WANT TO SHIFT INTO OVERDRIVE WHEN ITS COLD OUTSIDE SHIFTS FINE AFTER THE CAR IS COMPLETELY WARM AND DOES SHIFT INTO OVERDRIVE WHEN IT IS COLD AFTER MY RPMS HIT...

This is a normal condition, the nag transmission control module needs to see a certain temperature of the fluid before shifting into overdrive this is due to fluid viscosity, if the fluid is too thick
due to cold temps the pump cannot supply enough pressure to fully engage
the overdrive clutch, if it did you would have slippage in overdrive

I have a 1997 Kia Sportage (#KNAJA5278VA787759). The automatic transmission used to not shift into overdrive at 60 km/hr, but only after the engine was warm--after about 5 km of driving. The problem...

I had a simular problem.
Ended up changing the themastat and the gears changed into overdrive when the temp. got to normal running.
Be carefull that you get right thermastat though. You want one that reaches the normal working Temp as soon as possable.
Hope this helps.

I just purchased it today. The RPM's goes up to 4

You'll want to doublecheck & make sure the Overdrive is turned on. That's a high rpm for 55, even high I believe for Interstate cruising at 65-70.

Possibly get back to the dealer immediately if it's not the Overdrive switch.

There are issues with some models that concern the RPM staying around 4,000 even at idle & under the right circumstances, a transmission won't shift as it should based upon engine & driving signals that the Trans computer uses to determine when to shift.

Check your fluid first & remember, Overdrive doesn't work until the fluid reaches a certain temperature.

good luck

Hi my mr2 1986 when its hot the transmission changes to 4th geer

I think its set up that way not to shift into the higher gears until it reaches a certain tempature. I know my chevy picup has a temp. sender unit that won't let it shift to overdrive until it reaches a certain temp.

1993 TOYOTA PICKUP (V6) TEMPERATURE PROBLEM

the trans will not allow overdrive until coolant reaches roughly 180 degrees, if the guage shows cool and the trans is not upshifting, or downshifts to third while driving. the problem is either a sticking (or missing) thermostat. follow the lower radiator hose to the engine and find the three 12mm nuts, remove these to get to it. a new toyota t-stat will have a little bleed valve on its face. position it upwards when installing. hope this is helpful.

Overdrive not shifting correctly

Not sure on yours but on my vehicle, it doesn't shift up until engine reaches a certain temerature, and right now in the winter weather it takes a little longer. On mine it's normal.

Shifting problems

The transmission/computer is designed not to go into overdrive until it reaches a certain temp and I don't remember what the temp is. Mine does same thing and it has 250,000 miles on it. When you start your truck up do you start it and warm up in neutral? The transmission fluid won't flow unless it is. There is know way to force it to shift into overdrive until it warms to the set temp.

Hope this helps
