Question about 2008 Hyundai Accent

Knock in the rear end

I just bought a 2008 hyundai accent four door automatic. I'm noticing a knocking sound from the rear end of the car. It happens sometimes when I break, or excellerate, and sometimes going over a bump. I thought it was something in the trunk so the removed everything from it, but the knock was still there.

The knocking sound is not continuous, and doesn't happen all the time. It usually happens going over a bump. it sounds like its coming from the trunk. Also sometimes the knock is louder than other times.

I have no idea what this could mean, or how serious it could be. the car has just over 1000km on it. So I'm wondering is this noise normal for this type of car?

To be more accurate this is when I usually will hear this knock from the rear end. When I break to a stop. when I stop I'll hear a knock from the rear end. It doesn't happen all the time, and if I break way ahead of time and come to a slow rolling stop it never happens.

Also if I accellerate from a stop rapidly I'll hear it sometimes. Mostly I'll hear it if I go over a bump.

You will need to remove the door card and check the lock linkage rod to the door latch, it may have come off, most likely from a broken retainer clip..

Rear end knock

I had an issue with the rear sway bar links that caused a knock and rattle, the sway bar keeps tension on so it is hard to feel for play.

It just pulls off, but that is much easier then it sounds. Don't knock yourself out trying to replace it.

Hyundai accent 2008 making screeching sounds when wheel is fully turned. belts just replaced last week

Was the automatic belt tensioner replaced or even checked? if if has lost tension then the belt is loose and slip[d under a load, which you hear as a screeching noise.

Hi, At cold start my Accent 2008 is knocking since apprx. a month, i went2 times and dind t hear it ! at the third times the light '' check engine'' went on . teh code of knock sensor

If you detected the engine knocking and the knock sensor also detected it to the extent it caused the ECM to set a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) then simply replacing the knock sensor was a waste of time and money, a case of shooting the messenger because you don't like the message. If the car is under warranty or guarantee then take it to the dealer for complete diagnostics. Do not under any circumstances be put off by lame explanations that they can't do anything. Take the car to other dealers to get written reports on the car. It is very important to get the reports in writing as this gives you legal protection with regard to the guarantee.
