The alternator is what runs all the electric in your car, and keeps the charge on your batterie so you can start your car. if it is not working then after the batterie is dead then the car will not start, no lights will come on or anything.

#1 Check your ground or corrosion at battery terminals if OK try adding an additional ground strap or cable to body of vehicle make sure you clean surface that means remove paint where cable is grounded.

#2 If you have an aftermarket radio or sound system or anything aftermarket that is not original check that also.

Very important if terminals are not corroded splice both batt cables about 1" back and inspect under insulator for corrosion if there is any replace batt cables

Why my car want start?

No, it would not be the alternator.
When a vehicle will not start, there are several potential causes and no shortcuts to determining the cause. You will need to perform standard diagnostic procedures to ascertain the failure and, if you do not know how to diagnose the issue, you are better off taking the vehicle to a mechanic for diagnosis.

No power but full batteries

Get out your volt meter and check the battery voltage, should be about 12 volts, then turn the key and see how far the voltage drops. If it drops below 9 volts or so, you probably need a new battery. Sniff around the vents of your alternator around fuse box, see if you can locate what actually fried..would suspect the alternator if this happened after driving the truck. The alternator charges the battery as you drive. If it is not functioning the engine will drain your battery until the vehicle dies, and probably wouldn't start even with a jump. Not real sure how to test the alternator without the truck running. Running voltage should be around 14 volts with a properly functioning alternator.

How's your engine coolant level? If you've got a water pump leaking coolant, your belt will squeak, as the pump will leak the coolant directly onto the belt. You'll see the spray pattern under the hood if it's been going on for a while.

IF a 10 amp blows you have a head short past the fuse . If it takes some time to blow the short may be at 9.5 amps on an intermittent basis or an occasion that the bare wire touches earth. Look at all the wires and harness and look for burn spots or places where the wires are pinched. Look for wire fault on the shifter area as it is most likely being pinched on the shifter movement.

2000 Chrysler T&C 3.8 LTR Alternator (tested Bad) Replaced with brand new one. Battery (Bad) due to non working alternator was reapaced, still get the battery idiot light any clues why and how I fix...

Hi there,

It could be any number of things from bad cable connection, bad earth, faulty voltage regulator, incorrect drive belt tension.

One quick way to identify the faulty circuit, is to have your vehicle's computer read for Fault Codes by an approved Chrysler Service agent (they will have the diagnostic equipment) - your vehicle OBD computer monitors these functions and the problem should be found immediately.

Check all battery terminals and 12v power feed connections are clean and tight.
Check all battery chassis and ground connections are also firm and in good order.
Check any in line 'Maxi' fuse connections are firm.
Check for water ingress in any cable loom or bulkhead connector exposed to the water spray.
