I would have to say that it sounds to me like it is the thermostat. If it isn't opening properly it will not let the coolant circulate. I do not think it is the water pump, because in MOST cases it will leak.

2003 Alero overheated and shut off there was water in oil pan but not on cap or dip stick. I have changed the oil and filter and tried to charge battery to start car but it still just turns over.

This is not as simple as putting stop leak in the radiator, this is a head gasket or warped head / cracked block. You need to have a compression test or leak down test done to see where the damage is. If you attempt something simple and get it running. IT will leave you stranded when it fails again and could cause a serious accident.

Changed thermostst and heater hose, car ran fine but leaked on right side of engine (Freeze Plug) now car stopped running while driving and wont start

sounds like the frost plug(freeze plug)let go and needs to be replaced. may have overheated the motor and it stopped due to overheating, as you say it was running and then just stopped and won`t start. just so you know the right side of the motor is the side facing the radiator as the pulleys face the drivers side. this is how a tech differentiates left from right on a Honda. fill with the proper anti-freeze and water mixture. this is all the help I can give you with the information you have supplied.

My landroverdiscovery 2000 shuts off after running for about 10 to 15 minutes then wont restart until engine cools done mechanic says it has a headblown gasket but truck is not overheating

hi, to me it sounds like the oxygen sensor needs replacing if it runs fine when cold then plays up when it reaches temp then this would be the sensor as the sensor only starts working when it reaches running temp

Check the oil for signs of water if its like chocolate ice cream then this indicates head gasket failure

check water for signs of oil this would look lik mayonaise floating on top in the water filler bottle.

Whilst its running check the water level doesnt rise if it does then head gasket gone if it remains the same then you should be ok.

When it gets to temp and cuts off remove the water filler cap and then try starting if it starts then this is head gasket failure

If none of those show up then i would go with the oxygen sensor replacement.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

After driveing 1 mile frome cold start van just revs but wont accelerate

Check in your radiator if you don't have transmission fluid in it. And pull the tranny dip stick to see if you don't have water or foam on it. There is a tranny cooler coil inside the radiator to help keep the tranny oil cool. You may have this leaking into the water, if this is the case and you don't take care of it fast it will ruin the tranny too.
I hope this helps.

Car shuts down after 1/2 hr. and wont restart till cold

you're water pump is going out and the car is overheating as a safety mechanism the chevy company put a senser that shuts down your car when it gets to a certain temperature to prevent any other damages. A new water pump will fix your problem.
