I have a 2002 chrylser voyager. It has been having problems starting over the last month or so. It clicks once when you turn the key and don't start. If I try for a min or so it will eventually start. I have been told that its the ignition switch. I would like to be sure I cant afford to change things that don't need to be replaced. Please help.

Could either be the ignition switch, the starter solenoid or the starter itself. Ask a mechanic to wire start the vehicle, by bridging the contacts at the starter solenoid. If the car starts, then the ignition is the culprit. If the car doesnt start, then it could be either the starter solenoid, or the starter. In my experience, if it clicks once, then it cant be the ignition switch, and if it clicked more than once, it couldnt be the solenoid. So i would look at the solenoid as the probable culprit.

99 voyager starting problems

Your ignition switch is going bad. The strange noise is the starter remaining engaged and locked to the flywheel. Your best bet is to have the starter tested at your local auto parts store, to deduce that it is not, in fact, your starter.

2002 Chrylser Town and Country. When we put the key in the ignition everything lights up like it should. You turn the key just to the on position and the the engine starts to turn over, but will not...

The Ignition Key assembly has a loose wire at the back. Remove it and fix the wires. The other possibility is that your Ignition Key assembly is faulty or damaged. Sometimes, if the wrong key is inserted, it could cause permanent damage of this kind.
These apply to all cars.

2002 Nissan Sentra turns over but will not start

pull one of the coils out of the eng and attach the sparkplug and check for spark. if you don';t have any spark i suggest replacing the crank sensor. if you hae spark check for fuel pump activation. last and most unlikely ecm failure

Periodically won't start. Starts up revs up then shuts itself down. If I just turn key it just cranks. If I pull key out and restart revs up and shuts itself down. I let set for a day and go out to start...

I had this same problem and couldn't figure it out, got fed up and replaced the fuel pump (turned out to be flex fuel) and it's been running fine ever since. This fuel pump is expensive.

2002 GMC won't start

I have the same model and went through the same trouble. Last summer I put a reman'd starter on it and had no problems again until about 4 months ago, it started all over again. I was sure then that it wasn't the starter. I talked to the mechanic at work and we walked over to the parts locker and all the GM starters on the shelf (remans) had the solenoids replaced, we said in unison, Must be a common problem.
I figured the original starter lasted 130,000 miles so I went to Napa and bought a brand new one. Working like a champ ever since.
