There are a few thing that can cause this problem. Not knowing what engine you have all I can give you is generic things to check. Fuel filter, make sure it flows well; spark plugs, make sure they are in good shape; air filter, make sure it is in good shape. Beyond that I need the engine to go deeper into it.

There are a few things that can cause this so lets start at the easy and work from there. It may be a low fuel pressure problem which can be caused by different things. To check if this is a problem with the engine cold before you try to start it turn the ignition on ( but not cranking ) and wait 3-4 seconds. Turn the ignition off. Turn the ignition back on and wait 3-4 seconds again. Turn the ignition off. Repeat this procedure 4 or 5 times back to back then try to start the truck and see how it starts. If it fires up right away you have your problem figured out. If not let me know if there is any difference and we can go from there.

Try to clean all cables to battery and starter. A bit of oxidation may be causing the problem, or your battery has a bad cell and is about to go. Especially if the battery is over 5 years old.

'96 NISSAN ALTIMA: HARD TO START WHEN COLD, BUT STARTS GOOD WHEN AT RUNNING TEMP.

This could be a old/dead/dieing battery. It's easier for a starter to turn a motor that has already warmed up because the motors oil is very smooth at operating temperature. When the vehicle is cold it will be much thicker thus making it much harder for the starter to turn over the motor. Thanks for asking! Try replacing your battery.

I have accidetally touched the small black wire to the post on the alternator where the white wire connects and now my 1993 nissan pick-up will not start what should i check ? all other electrical works......

Check your fuses; 20A and greater. If you are lucky you may not have damaged anything else. The starter is never fused but the starter solenoid very well could be.
When working on anything electrical, always remove first, and at a minimum the negative battery cable. This kind of problem doesn't need to happen only to save 5 minutes removing and reattaching the cable.

My 96 Nissan pickup won't start. Acts like the battery is run down, but I took the battery in and it is fine. Is it the starter motor?

it could be the starter. there are two sets of brushes in the starter, when they get worn down, they start to lose contact and it gets weak.
is there an oil leak that has the starter all oily? oil leaks are hard on starters.
It could also be the battery cables, or terminals.
Scrape the inside of the terminals with a pocket knife, to make sure there is no crust.
also make sure there is no corrosion in the cable under the insulation
take a blade and slice open the cable insulation up by the terminal enough to get a peak at the wire inside. If there is white frosty corrosion in there, its best to replace it.
You can also try cleaning it real good with an alkylin base cleaner like purpe power cleaner.
The electrons flow on the outside of the wire, if there is corrosion on the wire it can hinder the current.
also check the ground cable to the engine..

I hope this info helps save some time or money.

1993 Nissan pickup, replacing starter

I have a '95. It's behind the passenger side tire. Remove tire and rock guard if you have one--couple of screws--and you can easily access it. two bolts facing rear of car, two connections up front. Honestly it was the easiest replacement I've ever done. Just disconnect your battery first.
