HORN GOES OFF WHEN BATTERY IS CONNECTED

MY VAN HAS BEEN HAVING LOTS OF CLUSTER PANEL AND BODY CONTROL MODULE PROBLEMS IN THE PAST AND NOW THE HORN GOES OFF IF WE KEEP THE BATTERY CONNECTED. WE HAVE REPLACED COMPUTERS LIKE CRAZY THESE PAST TWO YEARS. THE VAN IS PARKED INSIDE A LOCKED GARAGE, KEYS ARE PUT UP AND THE WINDOWS ARE DOWN WITH THE DOORS UNLOCKED. WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THIS AND IT IS DRIVING ME DINGY

I am having cluster light problems ever since my rad ran low and I added a little water to get the engine to start again. None of the guages work and the check engine light, ABS, and alarm lights come on, eventually as I keep driving the door lock system kicks in and then the lights go out and guages start to work for a couple of days and then it starts all over again. No solutions so far.

have you had your chrysler dealer reset the comp. for the dash cluster. The van does have a different comp. for the cluster which controls most of those problems.

Door ajar switch problem more then likely or wiring issue . The BCM - body control module won't turn off interior light , let door lock because it think's the door is open . The door ajar switch is a input to the BCM .

The first thing would be to have it checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes . Also check with an enhanced scan tool to see if the BCM shows ajar switch data (open or closed ? Do you know about body electronics ?

All transmission light on the dash board cluster, and p1698 code came up

I'm afraid I have little to offer in answers on your van. My repair manual only goes up to 1996. So I don't know what that code means. Your tranny may just need a service. Drain the fluid, clean the pan, and install new filter and gasket. Or it could be a sensor. There are also valve bodies that can go out and make you lose Reverse. That is what happened to a Ford Maverick I had years ago. Also, your shift linkage may have come out of adjustment and while it may say R on dash, you're actually in N. Best of luck.

Does the BCM in a 1996 plymouth voyager control the ECM?

body control module BCM controls body functions like ac,doors, gauges, and the related while the ECM controls engine management systems, and have little inpact on each other chrysler was the first to network these systems together on a high speed hardwired network ecm relays temp data oil pressure alt voltage and mileage maybe a couple other things i cant remember off the top of my head all that goes to the bcm then is sent to the instrument cluster so it is very possible to have the same problem caused by to seperate modules with that being said in less than a year i think they better look closely at the connectors and pins in the wiring i have have multiple problems with the connectors on these models hope this helps

1999 plymouth voyager insterment panel cruise control and horn does not work any suggestions

the first thing is to check all your fuses, this vans have problems with the clusters going bad, you can remove it and make sure the connection is good, remove it and then plug it back and see if cluster starts working, if not then replace it, this may be related to other problems but it may not , the common problem with the cruise and horn not working reminds me of a bad clock spring, this is the unit is steering column thats like a rooll of flat wires that make the connection to horn and cruise as you turn the wheel, heres a picture of it,it works like a window shade, goes in or out as you turn the wheel. hope this helps.9dcb131.gif8212bd2.jpg

Flashing light on my dashboard for air conditioner and blower

Possible Solution 1 - Check your fuses2 - You can try disconnecting the battery for about 5 minutes to reset the onboard computer (Body Control Module BCM) which controls the items you mention. 3 - If that does not work, you can then try disconnecting (with battery disconnected for at least 30 mins to disarm airbag) and reattaching the wire connector to the BCM in case it has developed a bad connection - This is located under the dashboard on the drivers side. Should be a big square or rectangle connector with lots of wires and a bolt going through it. Unscrew the bolt and disconnect the connector from the BCM then reattach and screw the bolt back in.
The Body Control Module (BCM) supplies vehicle occupants with visual and audible information and controls various vehicle functions, To provide and receive information, the module is interfaced to the vehicle's serial bus communications network, the Chrysler Collision Detection (CCD) bus. This network consists of the powertrain control module (PCM), the Transmission Control Module (TCM) , the electro/mechanical instrument cluster (MIC) , the Airbag Control Module (ACM) , the Compass/mini-trip module and the Controller Antilock brake Module (CAB). The BCM is operational when battery power is supplied to the module. Ignition switch power is needed for ignition switch functions.
The BCM provides the following features: • Automatic door locks • Battery protection • Chimes • Compass/mini-trip support • Courtesy lamps • BCM diagnostic support • Door lock inhibit • Headlamp time delay • Ignition key lamp • Illuminated entry • Instrument panel dimming • Mechanical instrument cluster support • Power door locks (with/without remote keyless entry) • Sliding door memory lock • Vehicle Theft Security system (VTSS) • Windshield wipers / washers (front and rear)

I have a 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.8L with 125,360 miles on it.Healights, cluster gages do not work, hazard, turn signals and horn do not work. Car starts fineand car runs. I have checked relays but am...

it is going to be the cluster or the body control module. And with out seeing it I am almost certain it is the body control module . Are your door locks all working ? dodge uses the body control module it is like a computer brain and it controls everything electrical inside the cabin is the easiest way to explain. Its best to buy one from a dealer because they have to program it before it is installed. One thing you can do is go to the dealer or shop with chrysler scanner and have them check the body control module and the cluster. nothing else .

the most common cause of the poblems u are having is the Body Contro Module (known as the BCM) is defective, it is all to common a complaint, I believe you must have the new module programmed so the dealer will have to get invovled.
