P0320 - Ignition / distributor engine speed circuit malfunction
The ignition engine speed sensor input signal to Powertrain Control Module (PCM) or Electronic Control Module (ECM) is continuously monitored. The test fails when the signal indicates that 2 successive erratic profile ignition pickup (PIP) pulses occurred.
Symptoms:
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Lack/Loss of Power
- The engine may be harder to start
- The engine may stumble or stall
When is the code detected?
The P0320 code is triggered when 2 successive erratic PIP pulses are detected.
Possible Causes:
- Loose wires/connectors
- Faulty Crank Position Sensors
- Arcing secondary ignition components (coil, wires and plugs)
- Low battery charge
- Powertrain Control Module
Possible Solutions:
- Resecure loose wire or connectors
- If battery charge is low, recharge or replaced battery
- Replaced crank position sensor
- Replaced starter motor
Test it and tell us news.
95% of the time it's the crank sensor / CKP (not the cam sensor). If the
dealer is going to fix it for you then I hope they are using an OE
sensor, as the jobber ones, seem to be less accurate with the air-gap
measurement which screws up the signal to the PCM. Pretty common.

I will say good luck I have a 95 Marquis 4.6 and I have change the crank sensor, the cam sensor, the coils and the spark plugs. Rewired the crank sensor and I still have the problem. I can get the computer to go green while driving but then I wait a while an bam I get the code. So I am going to tear up the harness and see what I can find. Since it turns green on then I am missing something small. i even tested the alternator, next is the starter. Check this out might help you.http://easyautodiagnostics.com/ford/4.6L...

Replacing plugs wires and coils should do the trick!! check out crank sensor this may cause a p0320 also. good luck !!

You most likely have a bad crank or camshaft sensor. Either way it is a bad sensor that is not being read correctly by the computer.
You can go to autozone.com and register for full free online repair manual. It will also tell you exactly what the code is for and what should be replaced.
SOURCE: the code p0320 says ignition/dist engine speed
i would almost gues this would be a crankshaft postion sensor or camshaft sensor problem
