Hi: I just bought a used 2000 Hyundai Accent... Now today engine light is on. The dealer that I purchased it from said that he had to put in a new catalytic conververter in order for it to pass an E-Test. Engine is ticking and snapping and when I open the hood, it is sparking.....Help

probaly a reinder from hyundai that your engine needs servicing- oil change, fluid change, brake check, coolant check, etc. take it to a certified hyundai service facility and have them check it out! make sure you take your credit card, cash, or check-book! Good luck! and be smart!
Usualy the check engine light reports a malfuction in your engine performance system, it coulb be a misfire, bad sensors, vaccum leak, you need to have your engine code read from a garage or an auto parts store that offers the service for free.
Hi had a similar problem last week with my 2000 accent took car to dealer who put it on the computer, turned out that the 'mass airflow unit' needed replacing. Very expensive part cost £182 and labour £36 (Hyundai dealer) sorry!!!!
mine did the same thing i had to have mine chassie dyno tuned as it was floding on idel.
also have your ignition looked at my imobiliser was shoot when i got it fixed it seemed to help
