No you will need the correct housing that goes with the diff might be cheaper to the part number off the diff you have on your kia and just replace that otherwise your going to have to change the whole assemby more work more money yates210456

Truck back in shop second time in two weeks after having the differential built from wheel to wheel and in between. Thet are having a problem trying to adjust the pinion The told me that in order to

Call and clarify with them. They may have shaved in order to remove bearings from the old pinion. I doubt they shaved to install new ones on. Typically those bearings are a light press-on fit. At any rate, they aren't charging you for the second repair? Sometimes rear ends can be a pain to get right. Especially if it's not a shop that specializes in differential rebuilds.

I was told I might have to replace my rear differential on my 94 camaro, it has issue when accelerating and also sometimes a clunking noise when you accelerate from a stop

So what can we tell you,you don't already know?

This just a social web site

I assume you went to a dealer or repair shop
for the axle diagnoses

I bet it leaked & ran out of gear lube, or it
has never been changed in 19 years, now
it is worn & should not be

The other possibility would be the posi clutches
if you even have any

my Chevy C2500 has an electronic actuator / solenoid in the front differential they burn out frequently. They electronically lock up front differential. I bought a manual actuator from a 4X4 shop for $250.00 no more problem and no worry that if I had bought another electronically operated one it might burn out way back in the outback

When I had my 1997 Ford Explorer in the shop they told me there was a leak in the front differential. What is a reasonable cost to repair this problem? Can they put in a new seal or is this a major...

Once a pinion seal starts leaking, it needs replaced. It's not a major problem or a big job. 12-15 dollars for the new seal, $150-180 labor plus a few bucks for gear lube. Need to make sure the differential vent is not plugged or a hose pinched, this is usually what causes the seals to go out.

Good luck, i hope this helpsm & thanks for useing FixYa.

2006 xc70 140k .I am told the all wheel drive pump needs replacing and they are unable to remove it from the casing. They are suggeting removing the entire differential and sending to a machine shop???...

Why would a machine shop have any interest in
Motor Vehicle Parts?

I think your at the wrong shop

Hopefully not a dealer telling you that

Something wrong with that story

Do some research on the internet or go
to a dealer & walk into the service bay
from outside & talk to a tech about the issue

If your at a dealer, go to different one for info

It is impossible to look at fluids and tell if they need to be changed in any vehicle with mileage on it. Many states even have laws against people at service stations from putting your fluid next to new fluid.

The bottom line is as a part gets used it builds up an amount of dirt or sludge. You can change the fluid and a week later it will look exactly like what you took out. That is why you go by mileage not appearance.

I would tell the repair shop what is happening and let THEM diagnose and recommend what to do. Dont take it to any chain store, take it to a dealer or at least a shop that does a lot of GM work and has experience with your type of vehicle.

no there is nothing that needs to be aligned, you can simply put the new one in, just make sure you tighten the shaft bolt down as tight as it will go.
