There are 3 machine bolts that hold the big white part of the head light to the truck. These bolts are black and I think 7/16 but not completely sure, maybe 12mm or so. You'll need sockets, ratchet and a really long extension. Two regular extensions won't reach the bottom one. You get to all three of them from the front of the truck straight in. Once those are out, the head light assembly pulls forward and can dangle from about 10-12 inches of extra wire. This is attached to the bulb harness. 1/3 of a turn and the wire and bulb come out of the head light. Pop the new bulb back in WITH GLOVES, do not touch those halogens. And put it back together. You can use peanut butter in a deep well or regular socket to hold the screws in to get them started, or the rag thing.
It took me 14,607 hours to find these bolts and about 10 minutes to do the job! Hope it helps out!

Once you get the three screws out, you have to pry a swivel ball out that holds the whole fixture in.

first check power to the headlights with a test light, you might just have bad sockets or a break in the wiring, while you have the test light in the haedlight connector wiggle all wires going to it and turn off and on your switch,if you see it the test light light up at all check where you are, also by pass relay with a paper clip and see if you get power, let me know what you find.

Headlights 2001 Dodge Durango

headlight cover does not have to be removed. Open your hood and reach in to the back of the headlight assembly grasp the main headlight plug and pull while turning counter clockwise. the bulb should come out with the plug, the bulb will then unclip from the plug, good luck

Headlights dont work

sounds like the contacts in the headlight switch have gone bad.. the switch needs to be replaced - I have seen this more than once...usually due to someone installing "high performance" headlight bulbs that pull additional current causing the light switch to "fry" over time.
first do yourself a favor, and test the bulb from one headlight, just to make sure the bulbs arent both burned out.

2000 Durango, Headlights went out (both), turns, hgh beams work

if the high bam headlamps work it is not the headlamp switch itself but it could be the multifunction switch
