The truck has power from the battery to all lights turn singnals,But you turn the key and it wont start. starter doesnt make any sound its not even trying to turn over or anything
Is it a standard or automatic. If it is an automatic the park/neutral switch may have come loose and moved. Try putting it in neutral or pulling the shift lever up as tight as it will go. If standard - does the clutch need to be fully depressed? Is it a standard or automatic. If it is an automatic the park/neutral switch may have come loose and moved. Sounds like the relay in the starting motor circuit has failed, or a starting motor/solenoid problem - have them checked. This can also be caused by a problem in the ignition switch.
Check and make sure your battery is fully charged. If so, I would check and make sure your are getting the signal to the starter when the key is in the crank position. If you are getting power to the starter solenoid when they key is in the crank position I would have the starter checked and probably replaced. If you do not get power to the solenoid when the key is in the crank position I would look to possibly an ignition switch, wiring and connectors, or fuses or fuseable links.
Check for power at the big cable on the starter motor. The little wire should have power when key held in start posision. If have power to them have someone hold key in start poss & give starter solinoid a knock with hamer if no go knock starter body. If go when knocked need new starter
By your description, it sounds like the starter motor is not working proper. You can tap on the starter with a hammer sometimes to at least make the starter work. Make sure the truck wont run over you,but hold the key in the start position while tapping starter with a hammer. If the starter works ,then the starter needs to be replaced. If it doesnt work, then you will need to remove starter and have it tested before you replace it.. Let me know if that helps
i believe if you remove the steering wheel upper and lower covers, there will be a button to push to allow the removal of the key..as for the no start, the battery light is on because of the alternator. Its faulty. the clicking sound could very well be the starter not having enough power reaching to turn it over again unless you put a power pack on it...try a brand new battery, test the alternator and removed the key..it is possible the the key not shutting off the way, is drawing power from the battery not allowing to start that way, causing what they call a "parasitic drain". charge battery, remove key. try that
Check, clean and tighten your battery posts, and the power connection to the starter and ground. Make certain the battery is good and charged, Perhaps you have a bad starter motor, or the engine is frozen (will not turn over). I think the ignition switch is okay, because your lights dim when you try to start. This indicates power is getting to the starter (at least some).
Sounds like the battery is dead, you have just enough power to have the lights come on, but no cranking of the starter. Try putting the battery on a trickle charger, or hook up jumper cables to another car which is running. Let it run with the jumper cables connected for two mintues before you try and start your car.
