I suspect the fault is a bad or loose earth - check, and clean the negative terminal of the battery and then move on to the other end(s) of the earth straps by taking the bolt off and rubbing them and the surface clean with abrasive paper. Replace any straps that look worn, corroded or damaged - they are very cheap. Pay particular attention to the earth to the engine and the bodywork.

SOURCE: Car dies and battery light comes on.

Will it crank over when it won't start? When It dies check for spark at the sparkplugs if none change the ignition module.

sounds like the head or head gasket is blown. your cylinders may be getting coolant in them which will not only cause the motor to lockup, but also cause bent rods and valves. check your oil dipstick and transmission dipstick to see if it looks like water or coolant is presant, also check the coolant to see if it smells like gas or has any kind of oil in it, if so, your head is likely blown.

Radio is staticky when idle or driving but is fine when the truck is turned off it is a 1998 z71

Sounds like the radio isn't getting enough power. When the car is turned on its drawing too much power from the battery.
If you haven't already try running the car for a while or going on a long drive to charge the battery.
If that doesn't work it could possibly be the battery needs replacing.
Do any of the dash lights or interior lights dim when you turn the car on?

Take off jumper cables it dies

You're alternator is dead. Once started the alternator should generate enough power by itself to keep the engine running.

Issue with dash lights dimming while driving,

If the battery and alternator tested fine. I would have the charging system rechecked when engine is hot and at high rpm's. This way the checks are being done as if you were driving and driving for a long time. Alternators can work fine when cold but weaken when hot or stop working. This problem is not rare but only is seen occassionly. Unless it was checked at an electrical shop the average shop doesn't run these tests for they don't see the problem often enough to automaticly run them at all times. Good luck and let me know how you make out.
