Question about 2003 Toyota Prius
The red light with the car came on last year(2007). So took it to a local dealer and I can not remember what they fixed. Well, low and behold, it happen again 1 month ago. Waited till next morning to go to dealer, and the warning light magically disappeared. So I turned around and life continued till today. Bang, there it was again. What's going on? All electrical functions are working.
My Toyota Prius hybrid warning light has come on three times in eight years. If I turn the car off for 20 minutes, the hybrid light is off but the check engine light is on. After a while, the check engine light goes off. I think this problem is related to moisture somehow entering the hybrid vent on the driver's side. All three times this has happened, the weather was wet. Kevin Cardiff

I have a 2003 Prius and the big Red triangle came on and the gas engine won't start up. I could only move with electric power. After several attempts at various things, our dealer in Tysons Corner, Va said it was the ECM (electronic control modual). Big bucks but he said it was covered under the extended warranty. He put one in. Seemed to be fine. Two weeks later same thing. Long and short of it was he put three in before it worked right. Appartently there are some new ones with problems. it has been working fine since. Vernon

The red triangle w/exclamation point happened on our 2007 Prius. Turns out it was unidentifiable debris that had melted onto the air flow sensor wires in the air intake box. That debris caused jumbled signals from the sensor, causing the computer to be confused enough to give up and shut us down. Could have happened to any car with an air flow sensor feeding a computer control system.

These lights can come on for a multiple reasons, and they never indicate to you, the driver, which one. Among the reasons I've found are:
Oil level too low.
Oil level too high.
Brake fluid too low.
Radiator fluid too low.
