    I have followed ownersmanual instructions.

  • mukyfix Aug 18, 2008

Exactly as with nova19683. When I press the 4WD button, the dash indicator light will keep blinking. For one to understand that its ready to engage 4x4, the light should stop blinking and be steady. But no matter the distance covered, the light keeps blinking.

I had this happen to a 1999 4x4 LS and my sisters boyfriend mentioned to periodically turn 4x4 on/off at least once a month.
What I did was go down a stretch of road slowly and attempt to turn it on/off till it became unstuck.
Drove around 10 miles on a road that was hardly used...to get the stupid light to quit flashing I had to put it in park and try to creep forward ---while using off settiing or put in park then reverse...while using the off -setting on 4x4. My patience paid off. They get sticky...you must be cautious... because there is a way to cause vibration and then it won't start...some deadman feature that I experienced once and the LWD must have slipped in a little and I had to look at everything.
Mine is an Automatic with the shift on the floor...that can get sticky too.

Good luck and hope this helps...mine had lots of growing pains but I get 23 mpg and it runs/idles better and the only gremlin left is some short in the dash which leaves the lights D/3 (one or both on)for the shift indicator on:)

its not for dry pavemen
the Part time system is for OFFROAD (dirt) or on ICE.

4L and 4H lights flashes when you try to engage either of them in 05 Isuzu Rodeo

this is a part time 4wd, not AWD.
and as such must not be run on dry ice free pavement.
so post if car is on said pavement.
test 4wD in DIRT, does it work now, or not?
if you keep doing it on dry pavement this happens.
see here
http://www.rubicon-trail.com/4WD101/driveline-bind.html

read the wiki on all system. and see what you can do and can not.

its not AWD, and has no CENTER differentiable gears.

I have 2003 RA Holden Rodeo 3.0 ltr T/Diesel. The 2 front wheels don't seem to be engaging when i put it into 4wd (high or low range). I can hear the high and low range click in when i press the buttons...

Does yours have AUTO hubs, there are some luxory models have auto hubs, these rely on difference in drive on the axles,(wheel spin) others have manual locking hubs, these actually need to be engaged manually, these require you to twist the centre of the hub to engage and disengage the front hubs, these sometimes require you to reverse to disengage properly, Rodeo had both depending on model. Slips out of gear when in 4WD

Check the oil level in the shift on the fly (sotf) part of the axle thats the left of the front one - it holds about 1 pint of gear oil and gets missed at service time .
