Yes, it is likely a loose mount or a bad bearing. This can be expensive and depends on model. Sometime it is not easy to get to without removing the whole dash board. If it is still blowing cold/warm air as needed and is only loud, then you can either elect to fix it or just turn your radio louder to help you ignore the fan noise. It is not breaking anything else by making some noise. It will just get worse until it stops working.
It is not the type if issue that will leave you stranded. It is only going to leave you hot (or cold) until you drive it to a repair shop. Dealers are way to expensive for this. Find a local shop to do this type of work when you finally need it.
If it's just not blowing the blower could have worn out or something such as a mouse could have gotten in the fan and stopped it. If the line on the compressor is getting cold then the compressor is working.
mine did that while trying to fix the recirculator flap and it fell flat on top of the blower which cut off the suction. i pulled the blower motor out and reached up in there to get to it. i found that the flap problem is common. only problem is if its not working it allows cold air in from outside. my wife complained her feet were cold even though the heat was on thats when i discovered my hinge on flap was broke
That sounds to me like your vent "tubing" is disconnected somewhere along the line. I am not sure exactly how it is set up in the vehicle you are driving, but I am certain fixing it will involve taking apart most all of your interior then putting it back together after a 10 minute fix.
