Brake lights and turn signals

On a 96 TC after I tested the emergency flashers(they didn't work) I discovered that the turn signals and the brake lights do not work. The window brake light does work. No indication of turn signal working except the side marker lighs do come on . Any ideas

I to attempted to activate my hazard flasher (for the first time and it did not work!) Now the turn signals light up but do not flash.

    Any solutions?

The hazard flashers on my 1996 Towncar quit working.  Then I noticed I didn't have any turn signals or stop lights either, except for the high-mount stop light.  Parking lights still work as do head lights, brights, etc.  Fuses are not blown.  Any idea what the problem is?

95 LTC. Turned on hazard lights, they would not work. After, discovered the turn signals and brake lights (all but the window brake light) no longer work. The turn lights on the front work when the head lights are on but will not blink. Indicator on dash does not work. Checked all fuses, none are blown.

Have searched several sights and this seems to be a fairly common problem. Do you Have a solution?

I had this same problem on a 1995 Lincoln Towncar -- thought I might have to replace the Signal Switch - then it was suggested to check the ground for this wiring. However I was told to check the HAZARD SWITCH. The Hazard Switch was not On or Off it was stuck in the middle. Simply pushing it up and down correct the problem. I was also told that maybe a little WD40 on the HAZARD SWITCH might help.

This is an easy try me first fix. It worked for me and cost 0.

I have to admit, I had my doubts about this fix. I have been having the same problem with my 96 LTC, and went out and sprayed some WD40 around the hazard button. I then finessed the button a bit, trying to work the fluid into the mechanics. It didn't work right away, and I parked my car to run into a meeting. I came out about 30 minutes later, and my hazards were on, and my blinkers worked!

  1. I was impressed to find that only moving the emergency flasher switch up and down. The brake lights and the Blinker Lights went to working proper on her 1995 Lincoln Town Car. ( Only the emergency flasher is the only thing not working for now). But I can live with that for a little till I get ready to play with that part. Money spent 0.00 Dallors, Just a few questions to ask on the right Inernet Page. Thanks to all of your help out there. THIS IS THE ONLY WAY A CHEAP COUNTRY BOY CAN SURVIVE. Thanks again

I think your solution is right on.  After further investigating my problem, I found that after pressing the hazard flasher switch several times, sometimes my turn signals would work sometimes they would not.  I fixed my problem by replacing the multifunction (HF, TS, wiper) switch, but I think your solution might have worked and saved me dollars.

1987. Why is there no power at the turn signal cam?

Do you have brake and parkng lights? The turnsignal switch on the column is just designed to relay a path to the flasher and then it is designed to interupt the brake and some of the parking lights lights, which cause the flashing on and off. Double check fuses double check bulb socks and bulbs for good contacts. Does the 4 ways work? If the lights all flash then locate the turn signal flasher and switch with emergency flasher if possible to rule out relay. If those are all good and the emergency flasher lights work and bulbs, then you would have a problem with the turn signal switch. Hope this all helps

Signal And Brake lights

The flasher unit is located under the dash, near the steering column. This could also be caused by a faulty ground wire. Check the wiring for broken, bare, or loose wires or connections.

Turn signals don't work.. Still have 4 ways and brake lights wrk... Module is good and fuses good.

An easy way to test if the flasher is bad is to remove the flasher unit under the dash and replace it with the emergency flasher, if it works just replace the turn signal flasher.

My brakelights only work part of the time, the middle one works all the time can i run off the middle to bypass where the probmel is in the rest of the wiring

that wouldnt be an good idea youll just cause more problems latter. use test light to check back of the lights and make sure you have power gettin to your lights if not it sould connect to main harness also find wirs comming from the 3rd brake light in back window and just trace them. also check your brake light switch and sometimes it can be the emergency flasher switch is broken cause they also run on your bakes so check and see if you have turn signals n emergency flashers.hopes this helps you and merry christmas

Control ?i have a 1997 s10 pick signal flashers ( right and left ) stopped working, fuse replaced no go, all other electrical working ( brakes /emergency flashers etc) what do you suggest mission

The flasher may have gone bad for the turn signal, and there may be a second flasher for the emergency flasher lights. Look and listen for a click of the flasher for the emergency flasher lights. Then, the other flasher is the one to replace.

Good luck on this repair.

Rear brake lights stopped working

Check your fuses of course, you probably did.Listen your not going to believe this, the wire at the brake light switch can be bad.sometines the wire can break inside the vinyl cover just a milameter.use a test light for presence of voltage at the switch and check a few inches back to see it voltage is present. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE VOLTAGE AT THE SWITCH!

1991 Ford E150 turn signals do not work, emergancy flashers flash constantlly unless the flasher relay is unplugged from fuse block

Hi,

If I understand you right based on your post/description, the signal lights would still turn on even if any or both of the flasher relays are removed. Should this be the case, then the signal lights are not getting the power from the flasher relays but from the brake light circuit.

Perhaps your concern is not with any of the flasher, but simply missing or loose ground more particularly with the rear lights. Perhaps you could try determining which of the wires for the brake lights and signal lights (as they come out of the light assembly) would be ground . A test and even possibly a temporary workaround is to hard wire a second ground connection from the determined ground wire of the lights and attach it to any conveniently located bolt or screw to the body. it may be to your advantage to do this on all the rear lights assembly.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
