Question about 1996 BMW 318

Thermostat for 318i 3 series E36

Please provide some information to raplace thermostat and the location as well as the termatic fan switch location. My car temperature is getting red light, the upper hose is hot and the lower hose is cold . Please advise

Follow the upper hose to the engine. The hose should be connected to the neck of the thermostat housing. Remove the housing and replace the thermostat. I suggest you buy the Chilton manual or equivalent for that car. That will help you a lot. Most parts stores have them or you can buy them online.

Hi i drive a 318i e36 amd have massive issues with overheating...i have aent the car in and basicly done a major overhaul of the car...gt the car bck from the shop 3 days back and it was fine...then 4 days...


Are the cooling fans turning on? Check the flow of the coolant in the radiator. Once the engine is at operating temp you should see the coolant flowing and then the fans should turn on. If the coolant doesn't flow the thermostat could be stuck closed. Double check the wiring harness and make sure everything is plugged in.

318i e46 1999. The cooling fan don't stop


the fan on those cars has imbeded control unit.
looks like you need new fan.

Have you checked inside the fuel tank??? most are sitting on top of the tanks... that maybe located under your rear car seat! not too sure though!...

318 tming chain setup


timing chain ? it is 8 vavles ,if both yeah
