Possibly bearing but also it could be your power steering pump check your fluid to make sure its at the proper level.
there is one bulletin out on a squawking noise for the front end also see below
CONDITION:
Some owners may comment on a squawk noise coming from the front suspension during large suspension travel (i.e., going through a dip). This condition is most noticeable in cold temperatures and may occur on only the first few jounces after a cold soak. CAUSE:
This condition is caused by the stabilizer shaft rotating within the stabilizer shaft insulator

CORRECTION:
Replace the stabilizer shaft insulator with the new service part that is made from a different rubber compound

If this doesn't help you will need to seek a mechanic to confirm the bearings ...
Hope this helps

Either bad brakes on that side or a bad wheel bearing.

You say it does it in gear or not? I ASSUME it only makes noise when the car is moving? and whines according to road speed? Get wheels offthe ground and spin each wheel. now grab the coil spring above each wheel and feel for a vibration.

have you looked at the tires- if they are wore down the wear bars-little bands of rubber that cross the grooves in tread will be exposed and the noise is your warning to get new tires soon

When moving car has loud whine/roar from front as car slows sound goes away does'nt matter if car is gear or not trans shifts fine

sounds like a bad front hub bearing, not something you should tackle yourself, youll need special tools, and the bearing will need to be pressed out,and in.

2003 differential whine/noise

The last time I had a hum coming out of the area of the differential it was an inside axle bearing going bad. In my case there were four bearings (one on each end of each axle). It was a Toyota. We changed one bearing after listening very carefully and guessed right. I don't know if Cadillac is built similar in this regard but I'm thinking it may be. It was a speed sensitive hum sound like you describe.

Whining sound in front end while driving seems to get louder when speed is above 60kmh

It could be chopped tires or a front wheel bearing. Rub your hand around the front and rear tires and see if they are un-even like a wash board. If they are they need replacing and will make a wierd whining noise that changes with the speed. The wheel bearings can also make this noise so check the tires and go from there. I hope this helps you.....Dan
