Question about 1996 Ford Explorer

Open Question

I have a 1996 ford explorer, eddie bauer 5.0L, v8, 219,000 miles. this summer i began to notice a whirring sound, like the transmission was trying to shift but couldn't. it is on the passenger side and has gotten louder. when i try to go uphill or just a regular up-grade in the road the vents throw hot air. hence, the a/c seems to not work... we can't solve this mystery. Help, please. I LOVE MY EXPLORER!

SOURCE: Location of Shift Solenoid in 1999 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer?

They are round "cans" with wires attached. You should have SSA, SSB, SSC, Torque converter and Pressure Control solenoids. They control pressures and have no mechanical linkage.

Trying to find out how to replace the shift solenoid on my 96 explorer Eddie Bauer addition

The shift solenoid is located within the transmission housing, which is accessible by removing the transmission oil pan and filter. It is within the valve body or attached to it.

How often do I need to get my oil changed in my 2007 Eddie Bauer Ford Explorer?

Well, that is a matter of opinion. I really prefer every 2500 miles. Your oil becomes contaminated unless FULLY heated up on every use. Oil can last a really long time, but failure in the oiling costs soooo much to repair, I just change more often. Perhaps costs less than a shrink....

Have the linkage checked first. If your shifter is 1/8" off, you can totally miss reverse.
