Question about 2005 Cadillac CTS
If the timing chain popped, there's a good chance that the pistons slapped and damaged the engine valves. Any mechanic replacing the chain should have checked for valve damage, especially considering that the extra work would have meant getting more of your hard-earned cash. Pick a decent mechanic, and have him run a compression check for you. This is a simple test that will tell if there is valve damage, and if so, on what cylinders. Be prepared for a fairly costly valve job.
