Question about 1998 Mazda B-Series

1 Answer

I would check to see if it threw the timing belt. You can simply pull the plastic cover back to see if the belt is on there.

Stuck seat belt

Most seat belts have to be retracted first before they will pull out for fasting. Try to push the seat belt back into the recoil unit (the unit that winds the belt up when not in use) and then pull it back out. There may be something binding the belt stopping it from backing into the recoil unit; look at the plastic trim around it, seat covers ect.)

Easiest way to check timing belt

If you simply want to check the timing belt condition, then remove the plastic cover and visually inspect it. If you have the 5 sfe engine, the timing belt cover is a 2 piece assembly, upper and lower. if you have the 7 afe or 4 afe engine the timing cover is 3 pieces and to inspect the top of the timing belt you must remove the 4 nuts holding the valve cover down and the 2 bolts holding the wire loom. remove the whole valve cover. to inspect timing belt condition.

My toyota 4runner timing belt is making a lot of noise, I took it to the garage and they told me everything was ok, I drove a few niles and the noise came can I repair that

depends on the sort of noise ,is or could it be a bearing?? if so then take the timing cover off and look for the tensioner and this is a bearing so use a thin screwdriver to pull the plastic grease cover back ,squirt of engine oil and finger of grease then push the plastic cover back in and try that

I check the timing belt on my 2.4 sohc Galant. It seems intake. could the balaence belt cause the engine to make nosies and suddenly stop and not start.

No, the balancer belt just spins to cancel annoying or sometimes harmful vibration. It should not affect anything unless it breaks and a piece of it gets underneath the timing belt. In this case it could throw the cam and crankshaft timing off, and possibly damage the valves. Remove the valve cover and look for excessive clearance on the valves. If things are not right up top you will have to run a compression test or dig down to the bottom and check the timing marks. If the valves are bent you will have to pull the head to replace them.
You should buy all new belts for the car and consider replacing the water pump at the same time. You will have to take off the power steering belt, the alternator belt, the upper belt cover, support the motor, take off the motor mount, jack up the right front corner of the car, take off the front right tire, take off the engine plastic under cover, line up the TDC timing mark, Take off the front wheel ,take off the plastic splash cover, take off the lower pulleys, take off the lower engine cover, observe the timing marks/arrows and highlight with paint, take off the timing belt, now you can take the head off to replace the valves, take off the counter balancer belt , water pump belt, and now you can unbolt the water pump, scrape the gasket, and replace it. Now the good news, if you have tools,a compressor, an air gun(for lower pulley bolt), patience , and four to eight hours to kill, you can actually save money and do it your self.

My car will turn over but wont start. The battery, fuel system and starter are all new

Pull the Distributor cap off or the plastic cover that is over the timing belt. You need to check the Timing belt to see if it is intact. If the rotor doesn't turn or the timing belt doesn't turn when you crank teh engine the engine the timing belt is broken.

How would i know if my valves is bent in my 1995 camry 220i and how would i know is my cam belt is snapped

to check the valve you need a compression tester, or the tool to blow compressed air into the cylinder. to check the belt there is a black plastic cover at the front of the engine. there are two ten mm bolts that secure it remove them and pull the cover out, or over enough to get a good look at the timing belt. if the belt looks good check it for tension. these belts should have no slack

How to Change the Timing Belt on a 1998 mazda V6,I am havin problems taking off the timing belt cover

Timing belts are a pain in the @ss. For taking off the cover, use PBblaster and spray the hell out of each bolt. If its a metal cover, you can always try heating. The timing belt should not be done by a beginner, its way too hard and way way way way way too easy to bump something out of allignment and then completely destroy the engine.
