HOW TO FLUSH AND RENEW COOLANT?

if the thermostat is in the head at the top radiator hose , remove it an fill the cooling system until the water is at that point --refit the thermostat and continue filling
make sure that the heater is turned on so that any air is moved out of the system

It overheats after a continuous drive of about 100kms

There are items you need to check.
1. Is the cooling system losing coolant. If so the engine will overheat and you need to find the location of the leak. It may be internal to the engine or an external leak from a hose, a water pump seal or a crack in the radiator or a failing radiator cap.

2. Is the electric radiator fan coming on when the engine coolant temperature increases? If the coolant is getting hot the fan or fans should be running. If not your need to detect the cause of the fan not starting .

3. You may have a partial blockage in the radiator with a build up of debris which is slowing coolant flow through the radiator or a partial blockage in the cooling jackets in the engine. Coolant needs to be removed from the engine every few years, the radiator flushed out and then new coolant is added to the system.

Suburban overheats while driving but cools while stopped. Heat works very good

the flushing of the radiator did nothing as it only cleans out the already open cores but the blocked cores are still blocked. Fit a new radiator and possibly the bottom radiator hose as it may be sucking in as well restricting the flow of coolant from a partially blocked radiator cores.

I have a 2000 1500 chevy express van and i changed the radiator and now it overheats

I take it you have checked these possibilities: 1) coolant is good mixture and at sufficient level. (specific gravity OK and radiator / resevoir filled) 2) Radiator / cooling fan kicks on after reaching operating temperature. 3) Water pump is circulting coolant ( observe coolant moving in radiator, feel top hose for fluid movement with engine running) ??

Other than that, I would suggest replacing the thermostat and radiator cap. (recommended anyway when a radiator is replaced.) Also, did you flush your cooling system out when you did the replacement?

Please vote if this helped! Thanks, Mike

are your fans or fan working if not it will get hot. I assume you have electric fans or fan if so make sure when it starts to overheat the fan or fans come on if not check the fuse for the fans or relay, breaker, wiring itself.

1998 Buick Skylark is over heating

You need to check the radiator cap for air leaks and also try having the radiator Flushed as you could have plugged fins inside the radiator, causing the radiator not to cool the antifreeze.

Why does my 98 deville continue to overheat?

check to see if there is a valve (usually vacuum actuated) inline somewhere on the lines that go from the block to the heater core. Maybe it is stuck...

'98 Century--Sporadic over-heating

Be sure to have heater (not defrost) on when refilling rad with coolant, and leave cap off until rad fan has come on & off 2 or 3 times, then replace cap. Airlocks are common on vehicles cooling systems, and will cause symptoms you are describing.

2000 sebring. Overheats with air conditioning on.

I just had my coolant flushed and my radiator cooling fan replaced. The car was slightly overheating and would "gargle" in the coolant bowl after I turned the engine off. It turned out to be the radiator was clogged up on one side.

I went full tilt and replaced the radiator, water pump, thermostat, radiator cap and timing belt. I have 85,000 miles on the car and it was about time to do these things anyway. It is running like a new car now.
