Question about 2005 Ford Taurus
The AC compressor comes on when you start the car and cools just fine.
other times it wont kick in at all . Freon pressure reading is fine when comp. is running, and there is some vibration from compressor. Car has 177,000 miles.
Replace the compressor? Seriously? You're a Ford expert (supposedly) and that's your first answer? Wow. I'd hate to bring my car in to you. Your compressor (sometimes) not coming on could be a number of things. Kind of like taking your kid to the doctor and saying he's sick. You could have a voltage problem to your compressor plug, you could have a bad clutch on your compressor. Most garages that provide A/Cl service will give you an estimate for free. There is no such thing as a 'free estimate' for electrical problems though, unfortunately. It could be so many things that normally they will charge you by the hour and after the first hour (if you're not dealing with a crappy place) will call you to tell you they've either a.) found/know how to solve/solved the problem or b.) it will take more time.
