Question about Ford Excursion

1 Answer

I have a 00 ford excursion the turn signals, overhaed display of temp, mileage & rear climate control. This started as an intermittent problem & has gotten worse. now they rarely work, a couple times the power seemed to be on even when the vehicle was off & the keys completely out of ignition. the heater in front would still run untill you turned it to the off position. Plz Help! Thx Mike

I did read about this. My concern is does this also effect my other issues of climate control problems & turn signal failure ? I was told by a shop that I have recently found can not be trusted ! The problem is some computer component under the dash & under the fuse block ? I want to be sure as I am not mechanically inclined, I will have to have a shop do this work. The 1st. shop told me the part depending on the #'s it has on it could be $ 250.00 to $500.00. I do seasonal work & want to be sure I spend $ in the right place as my income is gone for the rest of the winter untill spring.

    Thx

    Mike

Hello Mike! This is about 20 minute job. One screw in the glasses compartment then just pull down on the front then the back and 3- #10 tork screws remove the readout. four little clips hold the module together, be careful I had 3 diodes rolling around inside the module. Pulled it apart re soldiered it plugged it in to check it out. It worked. Reassembled it and that's all there's to it.
This is a very common problem with these overhead displays.

I completely understand what you are saying. Yes it could effect the climate controls and turn signals. The quote that was given you is probably not out of line. Because they won't fix yours. They will put in new parts. So if they would fix yours then it would be cheaper. But most mechanics don't have the knowledge on how to repair these. They just replace them.

Where is the electronicnautomatic temperature control module located on a 05 ford 150

I assume you have checked all fuses. It could be the heater control switch , the blower motor resister , I would start testing if power is getting pass the switch to the blower motor.
