Easy one this, Remove the footwell carpet (Just un-pin it from the poppers and roll it up best you can, hold with tape if needed, you just need to get it clear of the footwell) Then dry the area with a towel. Get some kids waterbased paint (orange is good, shows up better) and coat the entire area (Dont worry it comes off with a wet rag). Let it dry then get a hose and go crazy! hose off the outside area, underneath, anywhere the leak is lightely to originate. Any leak inside the vehicle can be traced via the darkened now wet orange paint! simples!

If its the passenger footwell its almost always from the windscreen seal, Older Vits had a big rubber plug in the floor pan, these sometimes came loose!

If you do narrow it down to the windscreen, a word of caution. Dont try to simply spread mastic over the original seal! the leak will be from underneath this so applying anything on top is just a waste of time! The Guys at autoglass ect replace windscreen seals for a hobby. Next time you see a van driving around have a word with the driver. Most wont refuse a cheeky twenty quid for five mins work! Thats how I got mine fixed!

Water in front passenger area

Hood misalignment, cowl cover misalignment, wiper module drain tube(s), and/or the lower plenum drain hose may cause the HVAC housing to leak water onto the passenger side floor. Diagnoses will be required to confirm the location of a water leak in the front passenger area.

It is likely that there are leaves or simular which have blocked the drain holes, however gaining access to these areas can be quite tricky and is best performed by someone with the right experience\tools

My passenger side floor is saturated with water when it rains. When I make right turn I hear what seems like water sloshing.

Hello,
If you can smell a little bit of a sweet smell from the water on the passenger side floor, or if it has an oily film to it, you may have a leaking heater core.

They usually leak on the passenger side floor, and that might explain why you hear water sloshing around.

If you can run the engine for about 5 minutes and then turn your heater on. Look under the dash in the area where the dash meets the floor board and see if you can see anything leaking.

I hope this helps you.

I'm looking for an estimate of repairs. I have a leak in the upper right side of the windshield which leaks into the front A frame, then down into my passenger foot area. When it rains the mat and floor...

It is possible you have a plugged drain and not a seal leak around your windshield; a hands on diagnostic is the best bet and so is a second opinion!! I feel you should try to locate the leak yourself by first putting some colored napkins in a few places like along the side of the windshield post, under the dash, at the floor to side wall, etc - anyplace water could be entering the passenger compartment.Make sure your door is closed securely and run a garden hose at about half flow for 1 minute over the top of the windshield. Wait 2 minutes then check your napkins for wetness. If none present then flow water over the top of the door 1 minute, wait, then check your napkins again. The problem may be in the door weather seal and not the windshield and this test should help you pinpoint the problem area. If during these tests you find wet napkins, try to follow the wetness up as high as you can and see if there is a bubble between the rubber and the body of the car. You can buy a tube of windshield sealant from an auto parts store or another store like Walmart and try to seal it up yourself. If there is a bubble or lump, break it off with a screwdriver and back fill that area with the windshield sealant. Dry the affected area with a blow drier on high for at least 5 minutes before applying the sealant so it can stick - it won't adhere to a wet surface and you can wipe off any excess with a napkin. Give the sealant 24 hours to cure and retest. Other than this, the sealant around the windshield will need to be replaced. I hope this helps!!

Water leaking under the dash

If on the passenger side when the air conditioning has been running, most likely a clogged air conditioning drain hose. You can located it by reaching under the dash in the passenger foot well. I have cleaned mine by removing the end of the hose from the firewall grommet and inserting a wire in the hose to clear the clog, then used a shop vac to **** out the debris through the hose. I did this several times. Take a container to catch the water as once you clear the clog the water will come running out all over your head.

2003 Jeep Cherokee Leaks Water on Passenger Side

Just had ours fixed, look on engine side of firewall, if the outlet pipe in passenger well is a 3/4 inch long pipe projecting forward into engine bay with no tubing leading down towards the ground, the problem is water comes out trickles back with pressure in engine bay to foam seal under the pipe and enters footwell inside car.
Take a piece of rubber tubing and hose clamp it on and direct it down towards ground in engine bay and the problem will be solved!
We have gone from soaking carpet to no leak at all with this simple fix.

There is a hose on the passenger side fire wall. You may have the water leaking back into the car, and may need an extension piece.
