It sputters....which means something is not playing the game...all engines follow the basic laws of needs air..evenly to all cylinders. a function of the mechanical parts...(valves and rings sealing the pistons) and a function of the intake system ..where it also gets its mix of fuel into the air..(also needing to be even and timed correctly) and spark to light the problem could be no or too much air or fuel..or spark...if no codes are present... the computer is also suspect for it manages these things normally...get it scoped

I have a 01 mustang gt 4.7 and getting gas in my oil. the service light came on and told me that the number 6 cylinder wasnt fiering right. what do you think the problem might be

The gas in the oil can mean you a number of problems one can be your rings in that cylinder or gone. the misfiring can be because the spark plug can fowled up with maybe oil getting in the combustion chamber this is just one of many problems it could be tho.

My 1986 Mustang Gt starts up fine... sputters a little when i put it in reverse and when im driving it... it will sputter a little bit like a huff and puff.. does this sometimes when i'm idle.. but the car...

Plugs and wires are a good start, if they haven't been replaced for a while. I would change the fuel filter and check the air filter. The fuel filter is often overlooked. The ones I change, you wouldn't believe the dirt that's in them.

Hey i have a 01 mustang gt 4.6L V8 and the check engine lights comes on and after a while when im dirving it starts to blink on and off and thens just goes back to staying on

The blinking indicates the system has detected a miss-fire in the engine, run a trouble code test to isolate the cylinder causing it.

2001 mustang gt

Hi, tony 96

This sounds like you either have a problem with an upstream O2 sensor, or the EGR valve is sticking open.

If the orange engine management light is illuminated, then you should have a code read carried out, which will point you in the right direction as to a repair.

I will add that the most likely scenario is a faulty O2 sensor, and this can be checked via a live scan at any reputable garage. In fact, I do believe Autozone perform scans and code reads for free.

If you do have a code read done, please don't hesitate to let me know what the code or codes are and I would be more than happy to decipher it or them for you.

Very best regards

1988 ford mustang gt bogs down when pushing pedal down

Hard to say if it is related to exhaust or ignition timing if you take the car for a long drive and take a look at your exhaust manifold and if it is glowing cherry it could be related to your exhaust or timing a freind of mine had the same thing happen and the cataliytic was plugged and the timing was out. the cat was probly plugged due to the timing being out.I would also check the timing. It could also be an injector problem, fuel filter,or some other area of the fuel system these problems are hard to diagnose without actual hand on so just check those areas and let me know of any other symptoms hope this helps?
