The hooter on my 2000 VW 1.6 polo is stuck - where do I disconnect the wire? I need a schematic of the wiring to ensure I pull the right one out? Thanks

SOURCE: vw wiring schematics

Hi Chrishuhagen-
Here is the diagram you requested. If you need other assistance or have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask! I'm an old VW mechanic, and I had (among others) a '71 Type 1 pop-top camper that I acquired with a blown engine. Built a stroker motor for it tuned for torque, and my friends redubbed it the "Ferrari Housecar!" It would cruise at 90 mph all day long, with plenty of pedal left! (And still get 30 mpg!)
Great cars!

This has been resampled to a smaller size so it would meet the file size limitations of the FixYa blog, but if you send me an e-mail at wldbil49@yahoo.com I will reply with the full size diagram as an attachment.

Please don't forget to rate my assistance----your rating is my only compensation for providing you this help!

Good luck with the electrical problems, and thank you!

SOURCE: engine revs on its own! vw polo

There are many number of reasons for this problem...but a VERY common one is a faulty thermo sensor which controls air / fuel ratio.

Turn a corner and the hooter goes off!

I assume you mean the horn. This sounds like a wiring problem. You may have a wire that has lost the insulation, either by rubbing or by rodents. When you go around a corner, the wire shorts to either another wire or come grounded metal which sets off the horn.

Yes, add a piece of wire, so they can flex, and twist together and cover with electrical tape.

VW Polo 2000 1.4 16V Blowing fuse for Central locking / windows

car electrics are a nightmare. the car lights up when a door is open i presume. and by bypassing the central locking. the electric computer says there is a fault. and will not start. that i think is programed in. best thing to do is. go to phone VW dealer ask about diagnostic test without repair. about £35 then fix it yourself. they garentee it right I think. the dealers have come into line better with that kind of thing phone and ask anyway.
