How to change the automatic transmision fluid and filter on a 1997 honda civic lxi

Believe there is no filter and there is a drain plug
on the transmission pan like the one on the oil pan.
Check with Honda, but believe it's three quarts, and
you should repeat the procedure twice. Get the engine
up to operating temperature, drain the fluid in the pan
pull the little dip stick on top of the transmission and
add the 3 quarts. Drive it around for a few minutes
and repeat. This flushes out some of the fluid in
the torque converter. If you are going to keep the
car, pick up a Haynes repair manual. This procedure
is for a 98 so double check, should be the same.

How do i service the transmission on my 1998 ford expedition

yOU MUST REMOVE THE SHEET METAL PAN FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE TRANSMISSION, INSIDE YOU WILL FIND THE FILTER, YOU WILL NEED A BIG DRAIN PAN TO CATCH THE 4 OR SO QUARTS OF FLUID THAT WILL COME OUT (THIS CAN BE VERY MESSY, A PLASTIC GARBAGE CAN LID WITH HOLES IN IT WORKS WELL), USE THE NEWEST RELEASE OF MERCON FORD ATF, AFTER THE PAN IS BACK ON AND ADD 3 QUARTS OF FLUID, THEN RUN THE ENGINE UNTIL THE TRANS FLUID IS HOT TO THE TOUCH, THEN IN PARK TOP THE TRANS OFF, ABOUT ANOTHER 1 QUART.

When i start my 1997 expedition i get a loud humming noise what is this

Most likely this is your power steering pump - check the fluid and listen again.

The ford power steering pumps are known for a loud noise and even new ones make plenty of noise - especially when you turn the wheels. Keeping them full of fluid helps them be a little quieter.

1997 ford expedition will not start turns over

Try spraying starting fluid into the intake of the air cleaner while someone else starts the car. Keep a continual spray going while the car is cranked. If the car starts more than likely the fuel pump went out.

Most of the time a vehicle will take between 6-8 quartz of transmission fluid. Just keep checking as you fill, so you don't overfill it and blow a seal.
