3.0 liter timing belt , I think, are recommended at 60,000 miles but you could easily get 100,000 miles out of them. They are a non interference engine so if it does break it will cause no other damage besides maybe ruining a timing belt cover. Usually the water pump will fail before the timing belt does.

The best thing you can do for yourself is get a manual. There are vehicle specific ones available such as Haynes, that have all info you will need to do that job. Pay careful attention to the correct positioning of crank and cam pulleys If you get it wrong, it may cause larger problems. I suggest that after it has been re-assembled, you turn the engine by hand four full turns, to ensure that valves are not striking pistons.

It is your power steering pump. The solution is to replace the P/S fluid resevoir and fill or flush the system.

SOURCE: 2007 Chrysler TOWN AND COUNTRY.. OVRHEAD MAP

I had the same problem on my 07 and it turned out to be caused by the bulbs getting too hot and melting the surrounding plastic which opened the circuit powering them. I was able to fix the problem by removing the bulbs and cleaning the sockets allowing the bulbs to seat correctly. The lenses snap off to give you access to the bulbs. If you are not familiar with how interiors of cars come apart, I would not suggest doing it as you may crack the lens.

ReplaceTentor pully on 1998 Town and Country

It very well could be the tensioner if it does not sit straight, or the idler pulley if the bearings have gone out, but usually 99% of the time it is the power steering pulley that is pulling out from the power steering pump, and that is usually what is causing the belt to mis-align especially at the waterpump pulley, check the alignment of that pulley very well.

2000 town & country van. serpintine belt slips off. turn corners in slush and away it goes.

Sounds like the belt is worn out or the tenchiner pully is worn out so replace the belt and if it still does it then you will have to change the pully, but most of the time when this happens it is the belt so replace the belt and you should be good to go.

1998 Chrysler Town Country 3.8L Does it Have Timing Belt Or Chain

your engine does have a timing chain, these are very durable, there is no set maintenence interval for them. you can tell how much chain slack you have by gabbing your crankshaft pulley with both hands and rotating it back and forth to feel the chain tightening, it should be a minimul amount of rotation. you should get well over 200k mi. of service without worry. i hope this answers your questions, or at least sets your mind at ease.
