There is a 4" round disc covering a hole inside the trunk on the right side that needs to be removed (it comes out easily). Inside, you will feel a cable with a piece of foam wrapped around it. The other wire or cable next to it does not have the foam on it. Pull the cable with the foam and the lid for the gas will open. This doesn't solve the reason why the switch doesn't work, but at least you'll be able to fill your tank.

Fuel cap wont open

Hi Dave,

There is an emergency release handle in the trunk.
Pull the emergency release mechanism behind the right luggage compartment trim panel in direction of arrow.
The filler flap pops open. You can find a diagram on page 267 of the owners manual. Also linked here:

Trunk will not open fuel door will not open all fuses ok

You have listed the vehicle is a 1987 Jaguar XJ6. The trunk is not electronic and only unlocks with the key as well as both the gas doors. Any issues here then it is your key or the actual trunk latch. If you do have a 1988 model year then the trunk lock has 3 positions. locked all the time, unlocked all the time or the vertical position locks and unlocks with the vehicles drivers door lock. If the trunk button (paddle) is loose and moves but nothing happens then the inside rod has come loose and you will have to manually operate the latch by removing the license plate and taking a long screw driver through the lower plastic bungs. The fuel flap is a separate unite and does have a manual release but you need to open the trunk to get to it. If the fuel flap stays locked all the time then the actually filler neck module will need replacing. If you have a 1997 which has the electronic release button to open the trunk (95-2003) Then you will need to firstly lock all door and unlock the drivers door 2 times. Check the fuel flap is now released, if not then the fuel flap actuator located on the filler neck inside the trunk is bad. If the trunk does not open with the remote, inside car switch and trunk mounted switch then the passenger side trunk harness is broken. Open the trunk with the key and on the right(passenger) hinge there is a grey plastic cover, remove that cover and carefully peel back the wiring harness cover and you will find 1 or more broken wires. Once the wires are repaired then I recommend you zip tie them in place and retest the trunk release button. If this does not answer any of your questions please feel free to email mejpseuro@gmail.com

Fuel cap with not open on my ren clio 1.4 57 plate (2007) and there does not seem to be a manual override ! can anyone help Christmas time .....Need my car :(

First of all, supposedly there is a little emergency release behind a flap of carpet in the boot behind the gas cap. On the other hand, you should probably check all your fuses for a more permanent solution.

2001 audi tt -- trunk release and gas cap release don't work

Hi, yes there is. To release the trunk - look on the centre console, just rearward of the front seats and you will notice a separate rectangular section in the plastic, if you lift this out you will find a cable release for the trunk underneath. To open the fuel filler cap manually, look inside the car just behind the rear light on the same side as the fuel filler and you will notice a flap in the interior trim, which is to allow access to the rear lamp. Open this and then looking towards the top you should see a loop of orange plastic - pull this towards the rear of the car to release the fuel filler.
Hope that helps Matt..

Emergency latch for gas cap 2000 VW Beetle, where is it?

From the manual:
  • Open the rear lid.
  • Open the cover on the backside of the luggage compartment. To open the cover, turn the two "quick-releases" and fold the cover down.
  • Reach through the opening by the fuel filler flap. Grab the cable with th plastic covering and pull down. The filler flap will open by itself.
Best of luck!
