Question about 2001 Volkswagen Beetle
There is a 4" round disc covering a hole inside the trunk on the right side that needs to be removed (it comes out easily). Inside, you will feel a cable with a piece of foam wrapped around it. The other wire or cable next to it does not have the foam on it. Pull the cable with the foam and the lid for the gas will open. This doesn't solve the reason why the switch doesn't work, but at least you'll be able to fill your tank.
