Question about 1993 Volkswagen Passat

I have a 1993 Passat VR6 that i was driving when it spilled the coolant out everywhere. I refilled it to find the leak and there is only a small one coming from somewhere but now the car is overheating...why?

Sounds like the thermostat has failed and is stuck shut. Car overheats because coolant cannot get to engine due to stuck thermostat.

On the otherhand, you could have damaged the engine (i.e. cracked block, head, etc) when it overheated and "spilled coolant out everywhere". Suggest you take it to a reputable mechanic that you trust.

What resivoir? Check for small leaks at the bottom. If it is the coolant resivoir and you can't find any leaks, check the level directly at the radiator when the unit is cold. Also check your oil and see if you have milky oil. If you have miky oil you most likely have a leaking head gasket.

Looking for a website that will help identify exterior engine par

I will suggest getting a Chilton manual. It is a book. You can find the manual on-line at www.autozone.com
I would still recommend getting your own copy, so you can write on it and get it greasy.

How does the car run otherwise?
The coolant, is it coming from the same place?
The oil leak, is it near a pulley?

Radiator fluid spewed everywhere.

a stuck closed thermostat may have caused the engine to super heat on shut down, the radiator fluid came from the surge tank as it boiled over..

Passat 93 vr6 wont start. I don't hear the starting motor just a small "click" when turning the key. Seems like a squirrell went inside the car... any ideas? may be a chewed up wire...?

Check the wires to your starter, if there all good then you may have a bad starter and need it replaced. Good luck and keep me posted.

check the pre pump in the tank. Under a small cover in the trunk with three screws. crank the car an see if you can hear or feel the pump running. that pre pump feeds the main pump which is located under the car near the right rear wheel.
