No usually on a manual transmission there is two plugs one is a drain other one is the fill

on the trasmisson locate both plugs one will be high other one will be low
when you remove top plug fluid should dribble out or fuild level will be right below plug hole
if not fill with the proper fluid until fluid dribbles out then replace plug

Where put transmission oil in1999 Ford falcon

Automatic transmission? If it has a transmission dipstick, you use a funnel to pour it in through the dipstick tube, with the dipstick removed. If it has NO transmission dipstick, then there's a refill plug on the side of the transmission.

Manual transmission? It has a refill plug on the side of the transmission.

BE SURE to use the CORRECT transmission fluid for your car and your transmission! If you use the wrong fluid, you'll wreck the transmission.

Clicking in stickshift when I shift gears

The clicking could be due to worn shifter linkage bushings. As for the chatter you may need to replace the clutch and resurface the flywheel.

Where is the dipstick located on a automatic transmission on a 1998 chevy prizm

You will open the hood and pull the transmission dipstick out of the top of the transmission. Wipe the fluid off the dipstick with a rag and then reinsert the dipstick into the transmission. Then, pull the dipstick back out and check the fluid level.

Keep in mind that the dipstick has markings to show you where the low and full points are on the stick.

Hope this helps (remember to rating this free answer).

Where do you put the automatic transmission fluid in

In the same hole the dipstick for the transmission is in. Small funnel works the best to minimize spillage. Also make sure you check the level of the transmission while the vehicle is in park and running and engine hot. Avoid over filling by adding small amounts at a time and re checking.

Transmission fluid leak ,most on top of tranny

This is how to service your transmission. Ensure to follow these steps to check the existing level to see in fact how much fluid your losing and if your at risk of a blown tranny with little to no fluid
  • Drive the car for several miles or until the engine has reached its normal temperature, as indicated by the temperature gauge. Position the vehicle on a flat surface, shift the transmission to the "Park" position and apply the parking brake.Raise the hood and allow the vehicle to idle.

  • Withdraw the transmission's dipstick. The dipstick features a T-shaped handle with the words "Trans. Fluid" stamped into the top of the handle.Wipe the dipstick clean of any transmission fluid with a clean shop rag. As the vehicle is driven, transmission fluid may splash onto the dipstick, resulting in a false fluid level reading.Insert the dipstick into its tube until the handle rests securely against the top of the tube, then withdraw the dipstick and note the fluid level. The fluid level should be at or just below the "Warm Full" mark stamped into the dipstick. If the level is low, fluid must be added.Add Mercon V transmission fluid in small increments to avoid overfilling the transmission. Insert a funnel into the top of the dipstick tube, then pour the transmission fluid into the funnel, periodically checking the fluid level on the dipstick.

Cannot find out where to put transmission fluid or how to check it!!

Here's a pic. Looking into the engine compartment, the transmission is on the left side. Down low there should be a yellow dipstick. To properly check it. Drive around a little bit...just long enough to get through all 4 gears. Then with the car running, pull up the stick and check the fluid level. Best to do when the engine is cold for obvious reasons. If you're worried about sticking your hand down there with the engine on, you'll need to make sure you check it within 1 minute of turning it off. However, if you need to add fluid, it's best done with the engine still running. Also, you'll need a long funnel unless you're really good at pouring fluids into small holes from long distances. :)

How do you fill transmission fluid on 1990 jeep wrangler

On automatics you fill through the dipstick tube. On stickshift, there is a fill plug on the drivers side of the transmission case.

does it have an automatic or manual transmission? If it's a manual transmission there is no dipstick. If It's a automatic transmission the dipstick should be located near the firewall of the vehicle where the transmission bolts up to the engine block and usually has a red handle to designate it as the transmission dipstick.

My 1997 chevrolet cavalier 65'000 is starting to kick when I put it in gear, called dad he said check dipstick,,, problem can,t find it? and he said I might need a new filter?

If you are referring to the trans dipstick, likely yours does not have one. there is a fill plug on top of the unit and a plug that needs to be removed on the right side (like the fill on a stickshift) you need to remove the side plug and fill from top till fluid runs out of the side hole. (I know...great design improvement) Probably better to just have a shop do that for you!

I have a 1997 Chevy Cavalier. It doesn't have a dipstick to check the transmission fluid level. Is there another way to check this?

There's a fill plug on the right side of the unit that works just like the ones on stickshift transmission...fill on level ground 'till fluid just spills from plug opening.
