Check your fuses sounds like one popped and needs replacing.easier if done with a test light turn the key to on and test light should light up as you touch on both sides of the fuse if not fuse is bad another way is to pull out one at at ime and visually checking them. good luck.

It may be a loose battery connection. Still waiting for day light . But a Jump tonight got me back on the road. Very strange that everything electrical turned off. I thought it might be an anti theft device. Tomorrow I will have owned the car for 48 hours. Let hope I don't become a regular on this board.

2000 volkswagen beetle will not shift into overdrive but runs good in all other gears. It shifts smoothly but overdrive never engages

sounds like an electrical problem with the transmission ...these transmissions are fully electronic and the gears are engaged by servo valves these are controlled by the computer.... if there is any problem with the engine or a few other things it will be put into safe mode and it wont engage overdrive ..it may need to be scanned to see if any codes exist in the auto trans ecm..

2001 beetle battery hot turn key all the light come on but starter doesnt engage

try bridging the wires on the starter motor with a start button.
that or replace the ifnition switch.
if you bridge and the starter doesnt turn over its a bad starter
if it does its a bar ignition switch.
lmk if this helped

How to Check fan control module 2001 vw beetle? Power is getting to both 30A inputs but no output. In addition to both fans not working a/c clutch will not engage.

Sounds like your fan speed switch. I had the same problem. The fan speed switch is the main power switch to your AC. VW only sells the whole cluster wholesale around 150.00. Let me know if you need instruction on removing cluster.

sounds to me like you have a dodgy starter motor, gently tap the starter with a hammer, while someone turns the key, if it starts then your loenoid in the starter motor is on its way out....

Interment A/C clutch operation

Thats what it soulds like to me. The low pressure switch is what controls the clutch. Check to ensure you are topped off with refrigerant. If it is, get the low pressure switch replaced.

Interm A/C compresser clutch.

Check the relay in the fuse panel under the hood.
I have had these get moisture in them before and they would do what you describe.
