Question about 1997 Buick Skylark
Sometimes when I turn the ignition on, the anti theft light will come on and blink and the car won't start. If I let it set for 10 or 15 minutes it will usually start. I've had the ignition switch replaced and a new key made at a GM dealer but niether has helped. Do you have any solutions?
To many things can be wrong for a start. Could be the battery is tired, the injectors are clogged, somebody put something in the gas (sugar?), something electrical is lost in space. it's going to take some troubleshooting to figure out what it is.
rate the solution as fixya if helped.

Well i had a bonneville and had the same problem there is a solution cause all you can do is reset the system and it will keep coming back. hopefully your not like i was and stuck and cant start the car.
The IB-IM-PLJX Bypass kit is going to be
needed to get around this safely. (www.PASSLOCK2.com)
It matches the resistance level in the key switch
and allows for the fuel rail to engage with any key
you choose to use. check out the details on the site.
I wish there was an easy way to magically get it to
work without it, but this is what we have available
short of paying GM a bunch of cash to reset
a system that will likely need it again, and again.
I'd bypass it and go from. Then no GM passlock antitheft issues to worry about down the line.
I hope this helped some.

You seem to have a problem with the circuity..I recommend calling the manufacturer..

SOURCE: anti theft light won't go out
There are 2 things to try:
1) Use your key to manually unlock the driver's side door - sometimes this alone is enough to reset your security system.
2) Put your key in the ignition and turn to ON position (do not try to start the car, just turn to ON)- after 30 seconds, attempt to start the car and see if the security light goes out.
