Dome light, Cig lighter, Radio don't work. Checked the fuses in the compartment under the Drv side, and the firewall on the passenger side in the engine are good, and all fuses are good. Horn wrks.

Check along the firewall wiring and look for an in line fuse inside a rubber connector that unplugs from each other and see if the fuse is good. Some models have one on each side of the engine on firewall. Also check your wiring harness for breaks in the line or a bad ground,

Hopes this helps Mike

Car wont start just clicks battery is fine has no power to sarter solinoid when key is turnt to start position any ideas?

this could be a lot of things, there is a fuse jumper in the fuse holder unit in the fuse box holder, it will have two screw post sticking up you need to look at the fuse link and make sure the fuse link is intact, if it is open you can put wire across to make a connection than the car will start., check the battery it self, kia has a strange wiring harness it is totally backwards than american made cars if there any type of corrosion on the battery post or on the wires going to the starter or ground the car will not start because kia has a floating wiring hardness and i can not explain how it works but be leave me i do not know where to start, when we had these issues the whole harness had to be replaced by the dealer and the cost outrageous. i told them next time i had to pay for new harness i was going to do it like we do in american made cars, ground to ground and hot wire to the starter.
good luck

thank you rod

Silverado 1992 fuse blowing brake lights

if you have removed all of the loads and the fuse still blows then there is a short in the wiring. check for places where the protective cover is worn on the wiring harness. you'll have to trace the line from the fuse panel to each of the loads. get a simple volt/ohm meter. check voltage on each side of the fuse holder with fuse removed. may need to use paper clip to get to the contacts. one side will have 12 to 13 volts with respect to chassis ground and the other will have none. check for resistance or continuity to ground on the side with no voltage. you should see zero ohms or continuity. move areas of the harness around while looking at the meter. if it changes reading then that is most likely where your problem is. be sure all loads are disconnected before doing this test. when problem is cleared you will see infinite ohms or no continuity.

1999 DODGE DAKOTA HEADLIGHTS NOT WORKING , i HAVE CHECKED ALL THE FUSES AND REPLACED THE HEADLAMPS, STILL NOTHING, WHAT ELSE CAN IT BE?

Sounds like either a headlight switch or a broken ground. Did you lose both the hi and low beams? Do your parking lights work? The headlight switch outputs to the hi/low selector on the column. If both hi and low beams are out I would check output voltage from the switch. Sounds ike that make be your issue. Good luck and let me know if I can assist further.

I have a1994 gmc Sonoma. Fuel pump fuse keeps blowing. Dealer said it was fuel pump. I replaced it and it still will not hold a ffuse. I disconnected the fuel pump wiring harness and it still blows a...

Somewhere you have a ground fault in the wiring system. Sometimes if the O-ring on the fuel pump assembly is bad it allows a improper ground. Be sure to also check the fuse box wiring to assure that all grounds are tight. Some fuse boxes have multiple grounds.

Fuse Box ( cover) diagram for a 95 Lexus LS 400 is missing.

check the wiring harness beside the hinge that moves when you close the trunk.i have seen the wiring get pinched and the ground gets broken. the tail lights have separate left and right side fuses.get a test light,and with the ignition in the on position,there should be power on both sides of all the fuses.the atc type have little test pins on them.ground the test light and put the tip on the fuse.if there is power,the light will come on. if a fuse does not light up the light on both sides,it is open.since the fuses are see thru,it is apparent if it is blown as the metal inside will be burnt.

I am trying to hook up an aftermarket stereo to my 2008 mitsubishi lancer. the wiring harnesses (metra 70-7005 and mito-02) that i have do not appear to line up with the mitsubishi wiring. when turned on,...

Power to most radios is the red wire and ground is black. Do not mix up the two and make sure your plugs match "red for red" and "black to black" (the ground some times will also be green). If not you can blow a fuse in your box which you might need to check. If you have a meter you can check your car harness plug to see if you have 12 volts on your red coming out. If not make sure your fuse is good and you have the power on in the car (key turned backwards on most cars will power the harness if not turn if forward like you are going to crank it. If you are not sure the radio is good, you can pop the hood of your car and hook up the red wire from the radio to positive side of the battery cable and the black to the ground side of the battery cable and you should be able to turn the radio on. If you see it power up, you will know your problem is in your harness. Hope this helps

1999 Hyundai elantra died while driving found ecu fuse blown replaced lasted half a mile and blew again

Check your o2 sensor harness. The harness if not properly secured will rub on the axle to a point where it rubs through the insulation of the wire & shorts on the axle causing the ECU fuse (20A) to blow. Repair the harness & replace the fuse & bada bing! You should be in business! Hope that works. IF NOT follow this K.I.S.S.

Keep It Super Simple! It never fails!

Installing stereo had to put a wiring harness wired it all up red 12volt wire comes separete needs to hook up to ignition i do not know where it goes

Use a 12 volt test light & probe wires in harness from original connection, on feed side .Find a wire that only has power when you turn the key on. That's the one you'll connect that wire to.

Brake light for 1987 325i 4drs Inline 6

Hi,

On your brakelight concern, a few basic ideas:
  • a blown fuse indicates a short somewhere;
  • brakelights are activated by the switch coupled to the brake pedal;
  • the brakelight bulb is integrated with the rear parklights.
Based on the above, some actions that you could take/explore:
  • check the wiring of the foot/pedal switch, might be caught in between the spring coils;
  • check the bulb sockets. look/clean/remove corrosion, rust, twisted wires, frayed ends;
  • check harness going to rear.
On the ticking sound:
  • probably a relay;
  • check for loose ground or corroded/rusted ground points;
  • double check the ground connection of the stereo;
  • double check the battery's - terminal connection to engine and to chassis body;
  • check/clean relay sockets normally located with the main fuses.
  • in some worst case scenario and considering the age of the vehicle, a rehabilitation of the wiring system might be in order.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
