My Suzuki vitara has been sitting for a couple of weeks. Temps have been hovering around freezing. Just put a new battery in. Car turns over but wont start. ?????

no year car? wow...
no country. sold world over, with 5 more more engines,
miles on car?
miles since last full tuneup.?
when was it last a reliable daily driver? last month or year?
my guess( useless) is it needs a tuneup,
ever heard of spark plugs? fresh and new??
a tuneup makes 99% of all engines start in cold weather,
Ill assume it cranks robustly but I can't hear it?
200rpm is fast robust starter 50 is no good. 50 RPM
a mechanic hears that, and just knows, in 1 nano second.
new battery means nothing, what was CCA spec.

A 1990 subarea legacy overheating when going uphill OK on the level

Going uphill adds load to engine, so insure fans are working, thermostat is good and working, fan thermostat switch is working, fan relays are good, all fan shrouds and air dams are in place, engine tuneup is good.

Transmission over heating.. I went this morning to the store. The car won't start. Left it there went back 8 hours later still won't start.

no year sated, 1993?
'you forget to say it does not crank
if the PCM on this car 2005 to 2010
will show overtemp trans,
if it will not crank and the TRS is stuck closed (bad)
the PCM sends false alarm here.
all do that.
this and old post.
im correcting my answer,

NO cranks, have many causes.
but yours is a bad TRS.
transmission range switch.
or loose or corroded connections to those 2 wires.

my 2010 has the NAG1 transmission box.
and all do that, false warning.
this is because the this Mercedes box. use 1 wire for 2 functions.

1: Park /neutral
2: trans temperature sensor, and 1 wire.

diagnose no cranks, only

if nag1 box, bingo, TRS bad.

Do they replace the engine coils during a tuneup if they need to be replaced or if they are faulty. And how mush would a tuneup cost for a 2000 ford Expedition. Also my eng lght is on ,So get tuneup?

Typically, these days, a basic tuneup consists of replacing the spark plugs. They will inspect plug wires (if your vehicle has them). They will remove and replace the distributor cap and rotor if the car has one and you ask for it and pay for them. There is no timing to be set on newer cars, so they don't do that. They will usually test drive the vehicle first, and if there is any performance issues, they will note them before work starts so you cannot blame them for inducing problems that were already there. They do absolutely NO troubleshooting during a routine tuneup. If you are having performance problems (Check Engine light is a good indicator of them), then they will expect you to request and pay for an engine diagnostic. That will let them hook it up to the scanner and engine diagnostic machine(s) to try to determine the problem. Then they will come to you with a laundry list of things you need and things you should have. It's all rather pricey, but that"t they way auto mechanics are. Ask for a tuneup, get a tuneup. If it fixes your problem, ok. If it don't, don't expect them to offer repair suggestion for free. That's not how they make money.

How do I trouble shoot no cold start?

hi bob,
what engine ? 2.5L V6 or 2.0 L 4 banger?
does it crank, if it don't crank, its a no crank issue (100% unique)
if it cranks fast, it's a no start and run symptom.
is the gas old?

if it cranks ok, try, a tuneup., ever do a tuneup this decade?
if it cranks ok and it is tuned (spark plugs etc) then try instant start in a spray can.

watch scotty do a true , no start
classic !
