Did you check for trouble codes?

Just because the car see's to run fine doesn't mean there isn't a problem. Check engine lights come on when there is a problem. If the problem is not fixed before clearing the light the light will come back on and continue to either come back on or stay on as long as the problem is present.

Find out whats causing it to come on, repair the problem, clear the code and your check engine ight should go out and stay out until the next problem.

Check to make sure your gas cap is screwed on tightly. It should click several times before you stop turning.

Car fan running constantly with car on and check engine light on.

Possibly a bad coolant temperature sensor, sending the wrong signal that engine is hot and requires fans to be on for extra cooling. I don't know of any sensors for the thermostat, but don't know saturns.

How to turn of a check engine light after oil change in a jeep liberty 2006

Changing your oil has nothing to do with the engine light, if your check engine light is on then theres a problem, the computer stores codes when it sees a problem with the engine not operating correctly, you may not notice anything strange but something is wrong, the codes help in finding the problem, for example the code is po236 coolant sensor circuit. this would mean theres a problem with the circuit for that sensor and with some testing the problem can be repaired, you can go to a autopart store and they will scan the codes and give you a readout of the codes if you give me the code or codes i will be able to help you more, the engine light is reset with a scan tool or leaving the battery unhookedfor about 10 min,, the engine light will come back on when the computer sees the problem during its constant testing of all systems. hope this is helpful.

1993 Sidekick: reset check engine light...

you know about the "Hidden switch" don't you, its a switch in the earlier model suzukis. It's located between the steering column and the speaker on the left end of the dash, just reach under the dash and feel for it, or you can take the speaker out and it's on the right side of the speaker hole.

Reset check engine light on 1995 geo tracker

I had the very same problem with my 94 tracker and it turned out to be something simple. My check engine light had popped on after it had hit 100,000. I went through all of the suggestions that people had suggested (unplug battery......etc) and still to no avail. Searching the internet, I came across a website called and there, this guy was able to help me with my problem. It turned out to be a maintenance switch that kicks on every 50,000 miles. This switch is like a secret that the auto manufactures use to ploy owners of their cars to bring to the dealer and then rack up the dollars in unnecessary "repairs". The switch is located under the dash and can be hidden anywhere. From the assistance of the guy on the forum, he was able to send me photos of this damn switch and possible locations where it may be mounted. I found mine in about 5 minutes, where it was attached to the steering column. It's a tiny switch, that you slide up or down, depending on what position it is in upon finding it. If it's up, then slide it in the down position and visa versa. Once you do this, the check engine light will go off. Make sure you do not have the car running and you can even unhook one of the battery posts, just to make sure you don't hit anything while rooting around under the dash. Good luck!
