Check across the terminals of the brake switch attached to the brake pedal. When pedal is depressed, the switch should close. On a multimeter this would read about 0.1 to 0.5 ohms.

Which fuse is for the Brake Lights on a 98 Mercury Mountaineer. It is NOT listed on the Diagram fir the Interior Fuse Box !!

They're part of the turn light fuse. Replace the turn signal switch. All exterior lights run threw it, except the high mount brake light.

How to replace brake lights bulbs. When step on the brake, my window light comes on but the other lights does not come on. The park lights and signal light works, except the brakes lights don't work....

I think your break light bulb is damage and not able to work properly so you need to change it so you can give your vehicle to mechanic to repair break light bulb.

Hell i just bought a chevy cavlier and my back break light is out...the light its self is on...its just the break light when pressed...

you don`t say if its both or just one brake light out.you say the light itself is on but not if you mean tail light or what.the tail lights use a different filament in the bulb than the signal light which is the same filament that the brake light uses.if the signal light work on the rear then the bulbs are good,if just one side works then the bulb is no good on the side that doesn`t work.if the signal lights work but neither brake light works then you need to check the fuses in the fuse panel under the dash on the drivers side.if the fuses are good then it will be either a bad wire at the brake switch or a bad brake light switch, this is located on the brake pedal lever under the dash.

We installed a new break light sensor and now not only does the light not work the car doesn't even come out of park

I guess that you mean the break light switch. the new switch doesn't have to be good but thats not as likly as it being the wrong one. If the old one would let it out of park why were you changing it anyway as the lights work on the same circuit as the colummunlock soliniod. It's possible that you blem the stop lamp fuse or the curuize fuse or the cigar fuse. all of them have to be good for the system to work right. If it's a pickup the light sockets panel is suspect if it's a car the high mount break light bulbs are likly. Not knowing what year and model even car or truck makes the car a long one to answer. Chevrolet has been building cars and trucks since 1908 and theyve changed alot every few years and for me to answer this question for all chevys made is a very long answer.

Break lights not working properly

hi
silly thing to sugest but would you have the brake/side light bulbs in the wrong way? if you look closley at the bulbs there is two pins either side on the round silver part. 1 pin sits higher than the other, make sure you fit the bulbs in the bulb holders to match the pins on the bulb sounds complicated but it realy is an easy mistake to make.

Tail break lights don't work. Window break light does work however. Bulbs have been replaced.

Check the brake light fuse. The high mounted brake light (third brake light) is on a different circuit than the brake lights. Hope this helps.

Right read blinker/break light dont work, turn signal blinks rapidly

It's the bulb. There are two filliments in the bulb. One is for when you turn your lights on and the other is for breaking and blinker flashing. When the break filliment goes bad it causes the blinker to flash very rapidly. 100% the bulb. Change it and all will be good again. P.S. if it were a fuse none of the break lights or blinkers would work.

Break light problem

Do you know if the brake light bulbs are working? (are the bulbs good?). (the bulbs have two parts, one for brake lights the other for running lights)
If the third brake light bulb is working the brake lights should be with good light bulbs.
