The horn on my 2005 Elantra doesn't work at the steering wheel. I have checked the fuses and switched the fuse/relay in the fuse box under the hood but it had no effect. The security alarm will sound as will the beep for the door lock (not sure these come form the horn) what are the possible problems?

SOURCE: horn wont blow

the problem is the rotating contact that connects the horn to the steering column wiring harness, this part is called the clock-spring contact, u must remove the steering wheel to change the part out.

SOURCE: Horn not working in Hyundai Trajet

this problem is caused by the rotating contact under the steering wheel that connects the horn (and airbag) button to the steering column wiring harness, this contact is commonly called the clock-spring ribbon contact. WARNING! Before u replace this u must remove the wheel and the airbag module on the wheel, the airbag must be disarmed, the easiest way is to disconnect the battery 30 minutes prior to starting work, this always ample time for the system control circuit capacitors to drain down.

SOURCE: horn beeps as if in an alarm mode

It is shut down in an alarm. The owners manual says to unlock the passenger door to turn off the alarm and allow the engine to start. I had the same problem when I bought a 1996 Jetta whith a dead battery.

Horn on 2005 Prius only work with key.

Check the Horn Relay (in fuse box under the hood). You will need to check for Circuit continuity between the Relay and the horn button. There must be a loose connection under the dashboard or in steering column. Pressing the Horn button Grounds the circuit, so check the circuit from the relay to the horn button for continuity to ground.

The horn is not working over an year and half and changed the relay what next??t

Should have a fuse box under drivers side dash and a fuse box under the hood. I think the horn fuse is under the dash on drivers side. usually 10 amp. I would get a test light and a friend and have the friend push the horn while i held the test light on the horn connector wires. It has two wires a voltage and a ground. If fuse is good but still no power at the horn then check the switch in the steering wheel. You could have a bad "clock spring" or steering wheel switch.

Horn dosen't work

Check fuse. Usually located under the Steering wheel or under the hood. You will have to use the other side of the cover to determine which fuse controls the horn and see if the metal link is broken. If both are not blown its probably a short in the wire. If it randomly just happened then its a good first guess without knowing any further details.

Usually I check all my fuses any time I am looking for a specific one. Sometimes a random fuse can be the cause, and not the actual Horn fuse that is blown.

I check the fuse and the horn is not working

Check in your owner's manual for the location of the horn relay. It will usually look like a small metal or plastic box that plugs into either the main fuse box or the high amp fuse box under the hood. If your horn fuse is good then most likely the horn relay needs replaced.

Horn doesnt work

check horn fuse or relay in fuse and relay box (under hood). The fuse you can visually check by looking for a blown metal strip in the fuse (use chart on fuse box lid for labels). relays are more difficult to explain how to test. but they are cheap. you can try buying a new horn relay and installing it. after that, if it still doesn't work there could be a probably with the switch in the steering wheel. if it is i recommend you take it to a shop to diag and fix. worst case it could be a bad horn and/or elctrical wire and connection. A local shop could fix this. But check the horn fuse and relay that more than likely what it is.

Start by having someone press the horn while you feel the relay with your finger. If the relay clicks when the horn is pressed then the switch is working properly and your problem is between the relay and horn assembly.

Check the STEERiNG PAD HORN, the single wire in there might have disconnected and needs to reconnect or the terminal is corroded and oxidize. Checking the terminal wire in the steering wheel, just ground the wire and the horn must goes off! Taah!

2005 sebring convertible- horn goes off by itself for 30 seconds

FIrst off the horn's ground works through the steering wheel,so the wire is bare or the end is broken and grounding in a place where it should not. You will have to check the wires for the horn from the fuse box up to the wheel.
your power feed to the headlights and the door locks has an open ( the power is not connected somewhere ) Perform a wiggle test turn on the headlights and lift the hood, find the power distribution box and begin to wiggle the wire harness.Sometimes the chrysler fuse box under the hood get loose inside the power distribution box,it will have to be broken down all the way to the heavy wires comming out of hte box,you can tighten these connections your self.
