It is located on the drivers side wall close to the firewall, adjacent to the engine control housing assembly. It is part number 9345

Fuse #10 keeps popping on my 2002 lincoln navigator. already installed new fuel pump and relay. any suggestions would be appreciated!


Go to Google and enter "2002 Lincoln Navigator fuse10". You will be able to look up everything for the electrical system by selecting the individual pages and clicking them.

What you would want to do is look up all the wiring "paths" to read if a component part may be shorting this fuse. When the individual components are eliminated as problems, then it must be a shorting wire. The plug-in connector for the fuelpump should be clean now, as you just had the fuelpump replaced.

What I would look for as a problem are the other wires going into the Fuelpump Relay. Only 2 wires of the 4 prongs or so will make the pump work. Could be #27 and #34. Look on internet for "jumping the fuelpump relay" on Ford products.

It would help to know if the fuse breaks when the vehicle is off, or when it is running. Reason being that the mentioned fuelpump Relay has 2 or more extra terminals that connect to other devices and they could be tested.

Finally, most people think about a Relay connecting the Positive(hot) wire to transfer power. The fact is, the Negative(neutral) wire is also used to route power and connect the coils inside Relays. When you get a short on a Negative wire, it can falsely activate a Relay coil to connect something. This also means that shutting off the car will not necessarily shut off the power.

I do not get any electric power on the feul pump, i have tried to activate the emergency shut off valve but still no power. i have taken electrical messurment at the switch but there was no power either.


Hello, You should have a fuelpump Relay in the Powerbox under the hood. The power goes through this Relay, then it has a fuse in the fusebox inside the car, and the Inertia sensor is next and then the fuelpump. If you have no power going to the Inertia switch, then you may have a bad fuse or a bad Relay.

Check with Autozone, Oreillys, or Advance autoparts for the correct Relay. Ford uses the same part for several jobs and you need to replace the bad Relay. Sometimes you can just switch identical Relays to find the bad one. Autozone is pretty good for having diagrams. A bad fuse would mean something went bad either on the Relay side or the fuelpump side of the fuse.

We replaced a bad fuel pump on 06 escaped limited. There is no power to fuel pump. we have checked all fuses, relays and reset switch. Where else could the problem be?


Hello, You might try a Relay that controls the PCM or ECU. They would be in the Powerbox where the fuelpump Relay is. Some of the Relays are identical so you could buy 1 and it would be a backup part for several.

You should also look at the other things the Ignition switch turns on in the Run position. Does the radio work, the fan motor, or turn signals? If they do not work look at replacing your Ignition switch.

The PCM and ECU get their power indirectly from the Ignition switch. When all have power they will connect to the fuelpump Relay. Since you said you checked the Relays, I am taking that to mean you checked the fuelpump Relay only. Many times people do not know that there are several relays which all need to connect to get the fuelpump to run. When you determine the Ignition switch is good, then the ECU and PCM relays should be getting power. Have you tested the fuelpressure Regulator? It needs to demand fuel from the pump.

The fuelpump relay depends on the ECU or PCM relays to work. One of the 2 relays may be bad and preventing the fuelpump relay from working. When you get to trouble shooting the terminals you can get wiring diagrams online or the info may be in a book at the Autoparts store.

One of the benefits of using a Dealer with the hardest problems is the tools they have. They have machines with connectors that match every wiring connector inside your car. If one section is unplugged they can test the wire loom section by section until the problem is found.

I hope you have found my solution to be very helpful and that I have brought up a few new areas to try. If trying different parts does not help, you are left with a wire by wire battle to fix this and the Dealers' better tools may make more sense.

Hello, I looked at the Reports for TSB's (Service Bulletins) for your vehicle and there are none for this problem. There are a few things that you can try to replace that are not expensive. The fuel filter and some Relays.

I would suspect that aside from using additives to the fuel, there can be only a few possible problems. The fuelpump is either running when it should not or there is a ground problem. For the running when it should not, there are Relays for the fuelpump and I believe a PCM Relay which can turn the fuelpump Relay on.

These Relays have more than 1 set of contacts in them, and 1 set may work fine and the other set may be sticking or failing to make contact. Sometimes it is a problem like yours, an underlying long term problem that causes a part to fail over and over. What I feel may be happening is your pump is not shutting off when it should or something is grounding through your fuelpump because of a bad Relay.

The Power side of your fuelpump has a fuse, the Ground side does not. If the Relays stick and allow a different device to ground through the fuelpump, that could be your problem. I would try a new fuel filter and a few new Relays. They are in the Powerbox under the hood and should be labeled. They would be handy as backups as many are identical. Just mark them for ID.

I have replaced the fuel pump amongst a lot of other things. I can spray gas or starting fluid in the throtal body and it will run rough untill the fumes ware out. Its a 1995 ford explorer 4x4 xlt


If you hear the fuelpump operate the first 1 or 2 seconds when the key is turned to RUN position, the fuelpump is working. If you do not hear the fuelpump run, check the Inertia switch which should be in the side panel of the rear cargo area. If you have an owners manual check for the Inertia switch location.

To reset the Inertia switch, hold the button on it for 2-3 seconds. You should now hear the pump run. You may also have a fuelpump relay under the hood in one of the Powerboxes. The Powerbox may have a fusible link from the Battery. When the fusible link is OK and the Pump Relay is OK, there is a fuse in the Fuse panel. Then finally the Ignition switch will trip the Pump relay. As power flows through the wire to the fuelpump the Inertia switch can break the power connection.

So you have 5 powerpoints before the fuelpump will work. Fusible link, Pump Relay, Fuse Panel, Ignition Switch,and Inertia switch. These must all work before the fuelpump can run.

Take your Bronco to an Autozone or Oreillys for a free scan. Offhand a new ignition switch would seem like a good idea, because the fuelpump should not be working in the ACC position.
If a new ignition switch does not help the fuelpump problem the pump is wired to an accessory. You need to look up the fuse info in an owners manual.

i had a similar problem that ended up being the fuel pump relay located in the engine compartment on the drivers side next to the air box. there will be at least 2 relays, the fuel pump one is black and brown. check that first.

The fuel pump relay should be at the pass. fender well. It may be under a cover that holds 3 relays together. Usually it has a green plug on it. Also check the inertia (crash) switch. It's located at the upper part of the pass. side floor inside the car. It'll be under the carpet midway up the firewall. Make sure it hasn't gotten tripped.
